Texas A&M coming to the SEC????

Of course, mizzou has already denied it....

After last summer, mizzou will likely deny everything until a formal announcement is made (if it even happens) and then it may still keep denying it until we start playing games!

I've never been able to figure out how some cities in the MIDWEST are more east than cites in the SOUTHEAST.

If you're not east of the Mississippi river then you're not EAST and if you're not south of the MASON DIXON then you're not SOUTH..............

p.s............. if you're in florida, you are neither for some reason; and there isn't enough room here to explain it, but I do like your gulf.

It's not their gulf. It's Mexico's.

If there was a "Like" button on this place, I would have hit a bunch of you on this thread. Good stuff folks.

But you find me, right here in the Middle!! :good!::good!:

I'm all for tamu coming to the SEC. It's about time the SECw got their Kentucky

i actually disagree with this, pj. i think having a Texas team in the SEC will kill in Texas recruiting. i dont know anything about TA&M as far as facilities and stadium, but i think they could potentially be a competitor. to what extent? no idea.

So hypothetically:

OU, Ok St, TAMU, and Mizzou would join the SEC West.

2 teams would have to join East from the West.

Auburn and Alabama would be the most likely. If not Alabama, then who?

Mississippi St is the next closest college, followed by Ole Miss.

probably ole miss+miss St would get moved or bama+auburn

Or you could do some bama/auburn+olemiss/miss St combo, keeping a yearly rivalry with the other (possibly moving to a 2 repeating opponent system, maybe as part of a 9 game conference slate)

No that would screw up traditional rivalries, although it makes absolutely no geographic sense, you would move 2 of the incoming teams to the East and 2 to the West.

For this reason I doubt we're talking to anybody about moving to the SEC now, maybe when the super conferences come we'll scoop up some more teams but not atm imo.

Good info, Aggie. Thanks for brining it to the board. What's the feeling on you guys potentially entering the SEC. Is that something most fans are for?

Not an Ag, a Vol alum who just lurks a lot on texags since last June... But from my impression, the large majority of the posters want to "SECede" in the worst way. I for one, want the Ags in the SEC bad. I just think they would make a perfect fit with their traditions and fanbase. Besides, they could get out of "big" brother's shadow for once.

Oklahoma has already proven they'll go wherever Texas goes. Aka the pac-12. Pac 12 will add texas, ttech, oklahoma and oklahoma state.

this is exactly right. A&M belongs in the SEC. our fanbase is like no other in the Big12 now that nebraska is gone. A&M has an SEC type fanbase. i really am not sure why A&M didnt join the SEC last year. Season tickets would skyrocket, especially with have the likes of Tennessee, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Auburn, LSU, and the rest of the SEC coming to Kyle Field. There would be many more donations to the athletic department once A&M joins the SEC. This move just makes to much sense for it not to happen this time around. Especially with the LHN now showing a conference game. It will start with one, then it will go to two, then before the A&M brass knows it, all the whorns games will be on the LHN. A&M needs to make this move.

Having another top tier team in the SEC could be a bad thing... whats gonna happen when a kid from Texas wants to play in the SEC? He's gonna play at A&M because theyll be local and in the SEC.. It just brings more competition for us to recruit against. jmo.. :ermm:

It think it would help you guys actually. if you go back and look at arkansas back in the 80's and 90's when they were in the SWC, they recruited texas really good. Once they left the conference and stopped playing A&M, tu, tceh and the rest of the texas, they lost their recruiting foothold. Its going to happen to Nebraska also. And also, they only SEC now that can recruit texas decent is LSU. This could help you guys just as much as it can help A&M.
