Texas A&M coming to the SEC????

yep. This is why the Big Ten went with that lameazz Legends and Leaders divisions. . . to keep away from East/West North/South issues. Could not have picked dumber names though. Except maybe Dumb and Dumber.

yeah could have been named a bit better; they had to realize the at least appearance of arrogance they might give off

I think they were too arrogant to see their arrogance.

I cannot think of one person that likes the names. They have talked about "revisiting" the naming process, but nothing has come of it.

They had talked about naming them after former coaches, or players, but that leaves someone crying favortism.

I thought Us and Them would have been great divisions.

That would give you:

East
1. Florida
2. Tennessee
3. Georgia
4. USC
5. Kentucky
6. Vandy
7. Alabama
8. Auburn

West
1. LSU
2. Ole Miss
3. MSU
4. Arkansas
5. aTm
6. OU

If you add aTm and OU to the west, only 1 team moves east. See my post above for why Tennessee won't want that
scenario.

And that should be Auburn. And somebody posted earlier, put A&M in the west and OU in the east. Putting OU in the east geographicly makes no sense. Put OU and A&M in the west move AU to east. Job well done.

East
1 Florida
2 Tennessee
3 USC
4 UGA
5 Kentucky
6 Vandy
7 Auburn

West
1 Alabama
2 LSU
3 Arkansas
4 Ole Miss
5 MSU
6 OU
7 A&M

Directions could have easily been used; they just wanted the attention that came with names like that, is what I'm convinced

Would you want to play in the "Them" division?

Division names off the top of my head:

SEC-Gulf
SEC-Inland

SEC-Atlantic
SEC-Appalachian

SEC-River
SEC-Ocean

SEC-Lower States
SEC-Upper States

SEC-Wetlands
SEC-Timberlands

SEC-Coastal
SEC-Hills (or Mountains)

SEC-Blue Mountain
SEC-Foothills

SEC-Frontier
SEC-Mountaineer

SEC-Cherokee
SEC-Choctaw

I agree with you, completely. The breakdown is like this:

Leaders Division:
Illinois, Indiana, Ohio State, Penn State, Purdue, Wisconsin

Legends Division:
Iowa, Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, Nebraska, Northwestern

There was quite a lot of debate about "If you name them East and West, you cannot split them accurately without loading one side unfairly.

EAST
Indiana, Ohio State, Penn State, Purdue, Michigan, Michigan State,

WEST
Iowa, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Nebraska, Illinois, Northwestern

In football, the East is the Beast. And the west is like baseballs American League Central. Cleveland (Nebraska) with a half season push by Detroit (Wiscy, or Iowa) and they could finish at .500 and still win the division.

In basketball it is probably even worse. MSU, O$U, IU, Purdont, and on the other side, Wisky walks to the division title. (Rumor has it that divisions wont be used in basketball for now, but I see it coming in the future.)

What about
SEC-Crooked
SEC-Clean

nah, scrap that one, that would be too lopsided! (the big ten folk would claim that SEC already means "crooked", Im not one of those people)

I'm all for tamu coming to the SEC. It's about time the SECw got their Kentucky

I don't think OU moves without OK State, and still think NC State is the eastern addition. However, if OU joins with TAMU...put Bama and Auburn in the East and send Vandy to the west. The eastern division then goes into beast mode, with like 794 combined national championships.

SEC-Beast
1. TENNESSEE
2. Alabama
3. Auburn
4. Florida
5. Georgia
6. Kentucky
7. South Carolina

SEC-Least
1. Arkansas
2. LSU
3. Mississippi
4. Mississippi State
5. Oklahoma
6. Texas A&M
7. Vanderbilt

We could have the hillbilly and redneck divisions. It would be easy to see who goes where.

So my question to you Aggie; What do you guys think of the Longhorn channel?

i personally don't think its that big of a deal for recruiting advantages. tu gets pretty much anyone they want, and that won't change until A&M gets back to where they were in the late 80's and 90's. From conference point of view, its horrible. Beebe is going to "try" and stop tu from have more then 1 football game a year on the network, but he can't stand up to the whorns. tu has ruined every conference they have been in. they are the greediest program out there. they are going to kill this conference, and i hope they do. The sooner we get into the SEC the better.

I agree. I think this will be a Win/Win for ya'll and all SEC teams for recruiting and exposure. Will help you guys differentiate yourselves from Texas and give instate recruits something to think about.
