Texas A&M is not the SEC's first choice

I've been on A&M boards for a while today....it's CRAZY! Slive is definitely there, they just put up some premium content regarding the visit. The A&M fans want to come to the SEC, sadly that's probably not a main consideration. Fans from every SEC school are welcoming them with open arms...needless to say, not too many PAC fans there.

Have you been to OU boards?

A funny thing happened on my way to conference supremacy.

Sincerely,

I was on an OU board late afternoon and it was surprisingly quiet. Some sooner fans are definitely pissed about the idea of chasing meekly after texas, but generally the mood was that of resignation--that they are going to follow texas to the big 10 and not much could be done about it. Not a lot of energy or passion one way or the other--which is strange given that switching conferences is a big deal.

It would be so nice to see a&m join the sec and prick the pompous attitude that is texas. or they might just be scaring texas out of the idea of joining the pac 10--I think the situation is fluid and that a&m going to the sec, or seeming to, will definitely give pause to texas and ou and tech. We should GET A&M while we can--and screw texas.

i'm going to say oklahoma

Doubt it, I'd bet either Missouri, Baylor, or Kansas.

I'd rather have KU but it's not up to me, they're a great basketball school. We'll see if Baylor tries to hitch a ride with A&M. Missouri gives you the St. Louis and Kansas City markets.

I see a sleeper in West VA. Already lots of TV time. Plus BBall is good also. And very competitive overall. Not typical SEC style football, but SEC style play of old is not the prevailing style anymore in the league.

Yes, or I was, my water heater broke...anybody know a plumber? OU fans are split 60/40 seems to bend towards PAC, but it's a lively discussion.

The prevailing argument is they feel "somebody needs to contend with USC" and now that SC is in trouble...easier pickens I guess. Don't quote me there, there is a lot of talk about TV too and they feel like they are doing well recruiting CA. They are in a different situation than A&M, obviously.

Just checked back....It has shifted in the poll 141 SEC to 116 PAC

It's not scientific, could be a bunch of SEC folks running up the talley.

OK thanks, official Tennessee spokesperson.

Bobby Dodd Stadium in Atlanta. Where did he go to college?? What conference did GT used to be a part of?? Who did we play every single year back in the day and have a huge rivalry with??

Answer these questions and get back to me, friend

Where is this pervasive feeling of ou to the sec coming from? The reports are almost unanimously saying the PAC 10 is where they are headed. A&m is the only big xii school the sec has a realistic chance of grabbing at this point.

Pac-10*

And I could see why they feel that way. It's going to be a very similar situation -- in a division with Texas and Tech, while CU sucks and the Arizona schools only get top 10-type teams two, maybe three times a decade.

As an aside, Bob and Mike Stoops in the same division is pretty interesting.

But yeah, with USC down, one could definitely draw some comparisons to the competitive balance between the current BXII South and North, with the Pac-16 west vs. east. Same story, slightly better conference.

oh god, the chances for Mike Stoops making Arizona good just got horrendously worse, didn't they?

OK, I revise: who under age 40 cares about playing Georgia Tech?

Probably will be a little clearer tomorrow after the Pac 10 commish meets with A&M

Yeah personally I think they go SEC. They pretty much know what they're getting in the offer from the Pac-10, I think them meeting is just a formality to say they weighed all the options. Too many people want A&M to the SEC. I also don't think Slive would fly out to College Station unless he was finalizing the deal...
