Texas A&M is not the SEC's first choice

you need to tell the conference commishes this, because they're all doing it about money first
The Big-10 and PAC-10 are doing that, but if Slive takes a stab at Okie at the expense of leaving TX to do whatever, I would say that the SEC may follow in the strategy stated above. Adding Clemson or Va Tech would solidify that even more.

How many times does it have to be pointed out that Slive is it in for the money? He's already stated he's not interested in GT, VT, Miami or the ACC in general. He wants teams that will make the pie bigger as he put it. That means going west. Texas, Oklahoma and Missouri schools are about all that fit that bill. Maybe Kansas.

I'm not really sure what our man Slive is doing.

1. Does he really want the SEC in Texas? Yeah, probably.

2. Does he want to make sure that Texas and OU don't end up in the Big 10, or rather the Big 10 getting into Texas? I'd say Definitely.

3. Is he just trying to muck everything up so this superconference thing slows down. Maybe.

SPORTSbyBROOKS: I've felt all along that Pac-16 was bluff (by Texas) to give cover for public Nebraska ultimatum by Big 12.

He just wants more $$$ and power. It's not anything else. Expanding his market will do just that. If the Pac-10 expands that far east or the Big 10 expands further into the midwest, it's that much more $$$ and power for them. There's no real power or $$$ market shift for Slive to take a VT, GT, or Clemson

You may end up being right, but I've learned a lesson today about Texas. Nebraska hates them. Texas A&M hates them. And a certain portion of OU fans would love to "stick it to them". I know some of it has to do with the way revenue is split. Some of it is just good 'ol fashion rivalry, I don't pretend to know the details. If you go to an A&M board the fans are overwhelmingly for going to the SEC. On the Sooners board it's closer to 50/50 and of course Nebraska went there own way. I guess it could be sour grapes about wins and losses, but I really don't think so.

It's also a cultural thing. In Texas, Longhorns are known as "Teasips", so what does that tell you? Longhorns are hated because they think they are a higher form of life than Aggies & other country folks.

I personally don't think Texas wants to dirty their hands & join the rednecks of the SEC.

OTOH, A&M is an agricultural school & would fit in very well with us SEC rednecks.

Oklahoma is harder to read. I know they hate Texas, but they seem torn between the SEC & PAC-whatever.

Stay tuned, I guess.

I've been on an oklahoma board a few times and I'm amazed at how passive and indifferent they are about this whole deal. Texas is too determined to remain a big dog to join the SEC. Don't let all the claptrap from texas about the pac10 being better "academic fit" fool you; this is all about football wins and money and the teasips believe that both will be a little easier to come by in the pac 10.

Good point! They don't want to be second fiddle to Alabama or Florida, but they don't seem to fear any West coast schools, incl. USC.

Because you can get leprosy from handling armadillos

But they tied Kansas and beat the #1 Texas Colts! Scott Bakula to Jason Bateman is a deadly combo, and Sinbad is a for sure All-American. Plus Kathy Ireland is their kicker, and Duece Bigalow is their play by play announcer.
