Oklahoma was never a member of the SWC...they were in the Big 8.

In the six years I was at A&M (B.S. & M.S. degrees), A&M won four games and lost two to Texas. From 1984 to 1994 (11 games), A&M won ten, only losing in 1990.

There's no doubt over the life of the SWC, Texas was the dominant team. But by the end of the SWC, Texas had lost much of its luster.
then why do you guys have such a little brother complex with Texas? they have the most support, they have the most money, they have the most backing, you can argue if they SHOULD have all that, but the fact is they do, and it bothers the heck out of A&M.

Elko is a good hire for A&M...and he will turn A&M's sinking ship around quickly. I don't think he'll be on borrowed time at A&M. He did a great job as DC for four years at A&M...and when he left for Duke, almost everyone knew A&M had lost a solid, class act guy that got the best out of his players.

As far as the 'lil brother syndrome,' I believe A&M shook that when they joined the SEC 12 years ago. UT never thought A&M would leave the Big 12, but after starting the Longhorn Network, and televising high school football games featuring recruits they were after, A&M had had enough. Just the fact that UT is following A&M 12 years later is a testament that A&M was right.

In my opinion, Elko will repair the damage Jimbo had incurred in Texas recruiting. The truth is coming out...Jimbo wasn't liked by many Texas high school football coaches. I guess that's why Jimbo went out of his way to recruit nationally...something A&M had not done to that degree in the past. And to his credit, Jimbo could recruit.

I will make this prediction about UT...it won't take long for SEC fans to realize they have the most pompous and arrogant fanbase around. Though it will never be publicized, I also believe the SEC will regret the day they agreed to bring them in. Texas is all about themselves...they've been that way for decades. They will try to be the Big Brother in the SEC, just like they did in the SWC and the Big 12. One of the things I admire about the SEC is the unity of the conference members. Compete on the field, but in the end, the strength of the SEC is their members acting as one. That will be something Texas isn't used to, and it will be painfully obvious for the rest of the conference.
I have very little doubt that Texas will quickly show themselves to be the most pompous and arrogant fanbase around, with more of a wine and cheese, big city crowd that honestly doesn't seem like it'll fit into the SEC very well.

However, simple math says that they will not and cannot be "Big Brother" of the SEC. They'll be one of several big fishes and will have to work within the system because they simply don't bring in a large enough share of the conference's revenue on their own to bully everyone else. It'll be a huge culture shock for them.
