Been a ruff 2021 for the red hats so far. Their savior is no longer president, his replacement is kicking ass and getting things done, their favorite mouthpiece kicked the bucket, and now their flagship state can't even keep the power on.

Joe Biden kicking ass? More like sniffing ass. I for one loved how his admin decided to attack individual traders trying to participate in the stock market! And how he wiped out a couple hundred thousand jobs with a pen stroke while sending tax money to Russian, Ukrainian, and Chinese energy firms. And how he can't even make a phone call and has to resort to the assistant ho-in-charge to handle things.

And his mea culpa is probably a tad late. Now that we’re done having fun thwarting the libs thunder, Cruz once again stepped on his Johnson. I don’t blame him for sending his family to Cancun. And he should have driven them to the airport and hung around till he was accosted by somebody trying to jump him like they always are and stated “yes I am sending my family on a trip however with the state of the power grid I’m staying to offer Governor Abbott whatever assistance I can”. Which is nothing. This is all on Abbott’s shoulders to deal with. But Ted has been around long enough to understand messaging.

Cruz missed an opportunity here. He should have embraced the trip.

"I am going to Cancun. I've turned off all power to my residence and office so I am not draining the already stretched system. Furthermore, I hope to find out how Cancun maintains its tropical climate all year long. Hopefully, what I learn on this fact finding mission will be useful for all Texans. Lastly, since I can only 'work the phones' to help the people in this great state and there is cell service in Cancun, I concluded I can be much more effective in that capacity when I am comfortable."

Truthfully there is absolutely nothing he can do here. This squarely falls on Abbott. And Cruz has no influence in DC to be helpful here. In fact we’re probably better off if he doesn’t talk to the current admin.

Honestly this is where Cruz loses in the 2024 primary. He's trying to play to the Trump crowd and should either be hiring a photographer to take pics of him sipping Mai Thai's in Cancun or telling people to kiss his ass upon his return.The fact that he folded not even 24 hours into this indicates to the Trumpets he doesn't have the stones to tell people to shove it 24/7, 365. I look forward to his concession speach after Iowa 2024.

This was a totally unforced error that he’s been around long enough to know better. He’s done them before. Cornyn is much more level headed in situations like this. Sure, send your family someplace warm. Absolutely even. Would have done the same thing myself. But have enough common sense to see the perception FFS you’re a career politician now. He cannot do a damn thing to be useful here. But here he should have remained. No reason for his family to suffer and again a completely bungled opportunity to garner favor. “I’m sending my family where they will be safe however I am staying behind to assist the Governor in any way I can.” It’s just basic politics like kissing babies. But not on the level of baby kissing the influence peddler takes it to 😂
