Texas, 'He Is Lying. People Are Dying'

More:
The death toll from the historic winter storm sweeping across large swaths of the US has increased to at least 23 — as more than 3.4 million people in Texas remain without power, including 1.4 million in the Houston metropolitan area, according to reports.

In addition to the Lone Star State, the brutal storm claimed lives in Louisiana, Kentucky and Missouri, shuttered COVID-19 inoculation centers and hindered vaccine supplies.

They’ve communicated fairly clearly what happened to the power generation. And the comments on water being shut off on purpose are false. The largest provider in North TX is NTMWD and they’ve come out to state clearly nothing is being shut off on purpose. If there are failures due to freezing they are off until repaired as normal.

I know this is going to be difficult for you but you can’t believe all of the stupid **** you see on Twitter.

Velo believes everything on Twitter as long as it’s liberal and against Trump.

This is going to shock a bunch of people too but when we have major snow storms even without the cold in TX the state largely just closes up. You see... our infrastructure isn’t built to routinely see 0 degree temps. On the rare occasions that it happens we just grit our teeth and get thru it because the infrastructure cost doesn’t warrant the need.

But that isn’t a statement you’ll be hearing out of the idiots in the left as they are doing their best to squeeze this situation for all the fake narratives it’s worth.

Stop trying to downplay this. This is 9/11 times a thousand. Or 1/6 times 2.3.

Beto is going to demand government provided generators, for all low income earners, "so that this never happens again."

Honestly I think a hurricane is a bigger risk to the population with regards to water and power than what we have right now. It’s just more concentrated in one area. The current situation is state wide. It’s unprecedented in the modern era. Once in a lifetime event. But... it’s 2020/2021 the gift that keeps on giving. 🤷‍♂️

I'm back to wishing we could get some of that Global Warming back that Trump helped reverse!

My wife was scrolling FB looking at her Texas friends and one was saying she was sooooooooo thankful their power had been turned on for 45 minutes..... so she could charge her phone. Move over greatest generation, the real winners are here.
Yeah most of my friends have largely been dealing with rolling black outs. They are all safe just wearing a lot more clothes than usual. Fortunately the ones on my friends list have just been forwarding posts like that for laughs.

We have been so very fortunate.

It’s sad and I still don’t understand how there are grown adults that can’t comprehend that running fueled heaters or cars indoors is dangerous. I saw that some kids died from the grandma running her car in the garage. A couple months ago there was a woman here on FB asking for a propane heater to put in her kids room. Some people were actually trying to give her leads and one guy I know said you will kill your children if you do that.

It wouldn't surprise me if Texas energy policy didn't play some role in this, but I'm not going to pretend to know enough to talk about it.

The real problem your comment brings up regarding infrastructure is people who come down here from the north and complain about the way we react to snow. 1) we're not going to invest in the equipment to immediately deal with six inches of snow on the roads when it happens once every five or ten years, 2) we're probably not dealing with snow, we're dealing with ice covered with snow... or just ice, 3) they came here voluntarily, deal with it.

Rant over. I feel better now.

Edit: by "come down here" I mean the south in general, not Texas.

Texas decided to get off the US grid and privatize their own energy sources..they don’t have to follow guidelines like other states and the wind turbines were never winterized...but hey at least some rich people got richer View attachment 352436
Antarctica =/= Texas. It's colder but there is considerably less moisture. Idk if the Texas windmills iced over but the implication by McAvoy doesn't hold.

I told some of friends here that this pales in comparison to 1993 and 1994. Told them to look up the Blizzard of '93 and the '94 ice storm. Talk about back to back sh** shows.

This isn't the best of situations to be in right now, but the alternative may have been much worse. Meteorologist's have been predicting this for weeks, so we've had ample warning.

Absolutely moisture was a factor. Good point about Antarctica having low humidity. Freezing rain fell over a lot of the state of Texas before it turned to snow.

Also any facility in Antarctica is 100% going to spend the coin to winterize energy sources because a) it’s cold all the time and b) without it they’re dead.
