Texas, 'He Is Lying. People Are Dying'

Texas decided to get off the US grid and privatize their own energy sources..they don’t have to follow guidelines like other states and the wind turbines were never winterized...but hey at least some rich people got richer View attachment 352436
Republicans are probably wondering how a wind generator in Antarctica shows that they work in cold weather.

It's not the governor's fault, but he could be honest about the decisions lead to the situation today.

I know, crazy thought.
I'm going to ask you a loaded question (because I already know the answer). But what control does the Texas governor have over ERCOT?

That's absurd. The argument that wind is not to blame is that out of the 30 GW capacity, ERCOT was only counting on 4 GW. And since it provided about 4 GW, then it can't be to blame. i.e. reliably unreliable. If you stack a lineup with .200 hitters, and then lose. You can't say you didn't lose because of the 0.200 hitters because nobody expected them to hit. Yes, you did because they suck and you can't rely on them. They never should have spent money on wind that's a throwaway power source. They should have invested that in more firm resources like nuclear or their gas supply lines. Did they lose nuclear capacity, yes. But nuclear is still running through this at an 80% capacity compared to the 15% of wind.

I've seen this from multiple energy experts. The people whose policy we will he following. I have no faith in experts when it's blatant propoganda.
To help bring this into context, they apparently were short over 30,000 MW (or 30 GW as you mentioned) in total generation... not just wind/solar. That would essentially be like TVA going dark and loosing all generation.

Could it be that the one in Antarctica is designed to work in cold weather..... you know.... since they were built to be used there? Maybe they have a heating system installed that is cost prohibitive for ones in Texas...... gtfo of here with your mamby pamby bologna and go research this

This is literally a once in a generation situation. This is like claiming we should all wear masks, cancel school, and social distance always and forever bc we are dealing with a once in a 100 year pandemic. Don't count on the GOV to save ya. Your better off that way.

Maybe you should expect others to respect our immigration laws and let ERCOT worry about their grid. The wall was a federal matter and funded as such, not a Texas matter.

The feds stealing land is shameful and should be unlawful. You want the land then pay what it takes.

I recall reading that cost of winterizing is 5%. tfwytiw

"Officials for the Electric Reliability Council of Texas, which manages most of Texas’ grid, said the primary cause of the outages Tuesday appeared to be the state’s natural gas providers."

“Gathering lines freeze, and the wells get so cold that they can’t produce,” said Parker Fawcett, a natural gas analyst for S&P Global Platts.

Texas largely relies on natural gas for power. It wasn’t ready for the extreme cold.

el has a wide variety of tweeters he brings here. There appears to be no continuity in popularity, likes, or retweets.

I hope one day he'll explain how he finds them...especially the obscure ones.
When you are living on disability and your only interaction with the outside world is through the computer, you're gonna find some obscure sh!t.

The lack of basic high school science knowledge displayed by left wingers in here is more of a tragedy than the once in a century cold snap that hit Texas. FFS. Its like all of you either went to school in the ghetto or dropped out in middle school. Which is it?

Why would they winterize? Do you build a home the same in San Antonio as you would in Minnesota? No. Are the building codes the same for someone living on the beach as someone living on a mountain? No. Why is that? Do different climates and environmental locations necessitate different requirements due to historical and scientific data? Yes. That tweet is a glaring indictment of the overall poor education and critical thinking skills of the people in the media and in the world in general.
