My heat pump broke about 10 years ago. It's a water system that uses water from the lake in front of my house. Pretty cool actually, but getting it fixed was going to be expensive. I put in a couple of $60 window air conditioning units that keep us cool in the summer and we don't worry about heat. It's really not an issue for us. If my 'lectricity bills go over $70, my wife gets freaked out.I had a heat pump in Orlando. It had coils that would heat up for "emergency heat". Never. Ever. Came on. But thank god I had them in case the next ice age started when I lived down there!!
