Texas, 'He Is Lying. People Are Dying'

I had a heat pump in Orlando. It had coils that would heat up for "emergency heat". Never. Ever. Came on. But thank god I had them in case the next ice age started when I lived down there!!
My heat pump broke about 10 years ago. It's a water system that uses water from the lake in front of my house. Pretty cool actually, but getting it fixed was going to be expensive. I put in a couple of $60 window air conditioning units that keep us cool in the summer and we don't worry about heat. It's really not an issue for us. If my 'lectricity bills go over $70, my wife gets freaked out.

I wonder if there will be a group of well-wishers there at the airport to greet him when he returns.
You are a deranged person. I feel for your boyfriend/girlfriend.

Actually I just hope you have a good battery charger.

Isn’t it hilarious how they just keep running the same play since Covid? It’s not even the same game, hell it’s not even the same sport, but they run the same ****ing play. Not enough vaccines, blame Trump. It’s too cold, not enough heat. Blame the right. It’s too hot, Climate change. Blame the right. FOH

Texas decided to get off the US grid and privatize their own energy sources..they don’t have to follow guidelines like other states and the wind turbines were never winterized...but hey at least some rich people got richer View attachment 352436

Dim logic:

“If three wind turbines can power a continent surely they can power a state”.

Ugh. My point is that what Crenshaw said about renewables isn't true. Wind turbines can work in extreme weather if you design them to. They didn't, and Texas has their own grid, so here we are with both sides politically posturing over whose fault this is.
A better question is can you make a wind turbine that functions in both extremes? My guess is the turbine that works in Antarctica isn't going to work in Texas and vice versa. The vast majority of the time Texas isn't subject to this kind of weather. So even if you had a summer kit and a winter kit when do you deploy the winter one? If you wait for a storm system like this how do you retrofit all the turbines? If you install it in November and it reduces output or increases cost how do you justify it or make up the difference? What is the cost of having all infrastructure ready for a once in a decade event at all times?

Looks like the Cruz folks are already trying massage this like Robert Kraft at a cheap Florida massage parlor.

Actually it reads exactly like I said but you’ll never admit it Evil Tyler. They had the trip planned, the weather was going to hit, he stuck to the trip and went down with them for the start then immediately returned.

But that isn’t as much fun for you Karens

How much will the damages due to the power outages cost Texas? It's not just that the wind turbines weren't ready--none of them seemed to be ready for it. A nuclear plant at STP had to be shutdown due to a loss of steam generator feedwater from (reportedly) a frozen sense line. There were pumping issues with natural gas. Wind turbines froze. Most of these issues probably aren't going to be all that expensive to rectify, but I'm not as familiar with gas/renewables.
