Texas hires Herman just now reported

I think the only people who are surprised are a few ignorant LSU fans. Everyone saw that coming. LSU should've gone after Fedora instead of retaining Coach O but that's just my opinion...

Imo shows Herman wanted no part of LSU. Herman was Texas bound all along.

Texas was going to offer the most no matter what. Herman and his agent knew that. You can tell LSU was getting desperate because they were releasing info about Fisher's supposed interest in LSU (which I'm sure there wasn't very much). Fisher was never a realistic candidate and they knew that. I think they were trying to kindle Herman's interest by throwing Fisher's name out there.

LSU started crapping the bed in September and just finished that bowel movement today. No reason to begin cleanup since the next one will be lined up on National Signing Day I'm guessing. Who knows maybe Ogre can land a decent class we will know in a couple of months

If Dinardo can recruit well at LSU, I guarantee Orgeron will recruit top ten classes.

They have a huge in-state pool of HS FB talent.

He will recruit well. Then he has to coach and run a SEC program in the same division as Bama. That's where it goes south.

I realize the wealth of in state talent and lack of in state competition. He SHOULD recruit well. Most anybody should frankly to a large degree. My musings were more about with the lack of stability does he lose this specific class and thus "crap the bed" again.

Still think it's an overall downgrade right now but again time will tell.

I think it's the most overrated gig in the country. Outside of a once in a generation college player winning a game they would lose 9 out 10 times what have they done?

Decent history, but more importantly it is the best in terms of resources.

The cash cow that just keeps giving

Pretty much. LSU probably would have flirted with that number (if it is true) but they got out before the bidding war started. That number would make sense, if true, as he apparently had a number already in mind on Texas's side.

It was a good pass for LSU either way, I can see $5m or so but basically he wants Saban money without the 20 years of Saban results on his resume.

He's good but let's not get crazy. He's coached 2 seasons. One was great the other was mediocre. Is he worth nearly $6M a year?

I meant, if that is correct... it makes sense as far as him coming up with the $6m+ counter to LSU. I didn't mean to imply I think he is worth $6m, actually quite the opposite. He wanted Saban money without the 20-year Saban resume and results. I considered Herman a gamble but at the right price, he could be a great gamble.

Maybe Texas will be a force again. I don't like them but I almost expect them to be contenders, odd to see them take so many beatings.

I agree. Wasn't implying anything by your post. Just commenting on that figure. I don't think coach O is a bad hire. Like most others have opined, he needs the right supporting cast. I felt that he had put the pieces in place at Ole Miss and got fired a season too early.
