No one from the Big 12 north is leaving for a smaller conference unless the bottom falls out. If anything they would go to the Big east or ACC.

Without TCU, who in the hell gives the Big Least any creditability?

They're "small" comparatively speaking.

My money would be on Kansas looking elsewhere hard. That'll be the last straw.

Baylor and the rest of the children in the South should be looking also. The adults are headed for divorce.

Kansas and KState would be a package deal. They have already said as much.

Which is what I've said since last summer. Good for them.

This will be the last straw for the Big 12. One of the main reasons why aTm stayed in the Big 12 was because they believed Texas wasn't going to get its own network. Now, since Texas has its own network, I'd bet that aTm will be in the SEC in the next 5 years.

Delusional Ags thought they wouldn't. Everyone with a clue knew they would. We stayed for the money left during the restructuring process with revenue sharing. We'll be out in 3 years or less. This didn't speed up that process. It just made it public common knowledge that the folks in Austin are pretentious, self loathing, douchebags.

I've been reading Texags.com today ,and I can understand people's anger. I read it back in June when the conference realignments were taking shape and the majority of the fanbase was pushing for the SEC. I feel bad for the aTm fans ,because the powers that be have been holding them back for sometime.

Not to worry though. Mike Slive would undoubtedly welcome Texas A&M with open arms when and if the opportunity presents.

Tell that to the SEC honks that claim Slive was in College Station last summer to check out the burger joints on NorthGate.

We're coming, sooner or later. To hell with this craptastic farce of a conference.

Would adding A&M really help that much? I feel that they get a lot of praise just because they're in Texas. How much would the conference actually benefit?

I be so bold to say we are sound competition in many sports. Girls basketball, Mens basketball (both currently ranked) baseball is always solid and were preseason ranked #1 not long ago. Track and field national champions the last few years, womens soccer is elite, the fan base that travels better than most. Were a good add.

It's more than football to the folks that make the decisions. That being said, were marketable.

entrance into the Houston, Dallas, and San Antonio markets. Money talks

Looks like the age of the power conference is coming. I hope the SEC snags some good teams so we don't get leftovers. I would love to see A&M join the SEC.

I'm not pretending to know all about the viewing patterns of people in those markets, but I've always gotten the feeling that the vast majority of the people in Texas don't really care about A&M, except the one game a year that Texas plays them. I could certainly be wrong, but I wouldn't be surprised if all that happens by adding A&M is they lose more games. No offense to the Aggie fan.

It probably would have been great for the SEC to add Texas and Oklahoma.

Going unbeaten would be a bit of a challenge, though.

Coach Turgeon is a very good coach and very underrated. When I was at Mo State, he always found a way to beat us with a gritty Wichita State team. He is a former Jayhawk assistant too. IMO...one of the most underrated coaches in the nation.

That's the common perception ,but that's basically the same thing of people saying that nobody in the state of Alabama cares about Auburn. I was in Houston this past summer and Aggie fans were the most I saw sprinkled with a few Texas and LSU fans. But then again, College Station is just a little over an hour away from Houston.

As a Texan I can tell you A&M has an extremely loyal fan base, I think you're underestimating the number of aggie fans in the region.

Thanks both you guys for pointing this out.

My question then is, why is A&M's history so poor in comparison to Texas?

That's a tough question. They've lost 75 or so games to Texas. So i'd say having to play Texas is an issue. lol Plus recruiting in that area against Texas, LSU, OU, and SMU and TCU (historically). Just a guess.

Am I the only one that thinks ESPN got a bad deal on this. The deal only gives them one football game a year, probably a nonconference beat down of Permian High School. I don't see a channel that will be showing girls volleyball, mens cross country and replays of old Texas football games for most of their content is going to be that big of a draw. Bravo for Texas for convincing the folks in Bristol that there is a market for Texas Longhorn tennis matches.

They are the Auburn to Texas' Alabama. They will always be at best little brother. They may win one day, but they can't compete year in and year out with Texas.

I'll disagree with the majority of that.
