Thank You, Nick Saban.

Hat, do you think Lane wins a NC here? With the talent he's bringing in, I think he has a decent shot.
Why ask that? Asking if Lane will win the SEC is the only relevant question.

Sucks to say this, but after what I've seen I will be surprised if he beats Meyer and Saban in the same year.

But, I'm also confident we can make it to Atlanta some time soon. Then it's just one game.

Ultimately nobody has seen enough of Kiffin to determine anything one way or the other.

And to think we SHOULD have beaten the potential national champs in their own back yard. That is what makes me sick. Fla, Aub, UCLA, we had our shot and just came up short. I for one am excited about the future.

I truly think once we get similar talent to Bamas we will be just as dominant. There are going to be some epic Tenn-Bama games in the coming years. That's including SECC games.

Looks like winning a national title will depend on beating Meyer once and Saban twice.

I've only returned to ask one question.

Why does anyone care what the old man thinks outside of basketball recruiting?

This is who you're talking to/looking for advice from... Gregg Doyel(wannabe)

Anyone can make outrageous claims. Tim Tebow sucks. The Lakers are horrible. Belichick likes men..... Anyone can make crazy accusations. That's all this guy does. He looks for attention. Stop giving it to him. Ignore him and make him go out into the real world to make friends.

That is all....

Keeping a game close with inferior talent and winning a game with the best talent on the field are two very different things.

Give it time guys, I'm still not counting on Lane getting us back to the top just yet.

tvolsfan, I don't think any fan should ever begin a season with the expectation to play for a national title. At best expect to win the conference and then see if you get picked to play for the crystal ball.

Oh, look. It's Mr. Insight. Can't wait to see what pearls of wisdom he'll dispense now.

I thought that was what you meant. But I think UT is in position to control their own destiny as far as that goes.

As hat said, playing for the NC are never really within a teams control. Conference titles should always be the ultimate goal for a team.

I'm glad that over the past few years, we've seen more one loss national champions, because going unbeaten in the SEC looks like it will be hell.

"Florida has better players, Alabama has better coaches." Boy, doesn't that sound right now.

I am trying to remember UF getting a bigger beatdown with Tebow on board, that was probably the worse. I was happy to see someone finally shut down that UF offense, but it was really the Florida defense that got run over tonight. I wonder if Louisville is having any second thoughts about hiring Charlie Strong after watching that performance?

I agree that bama is going to be on top for awhile. It is good to see that gimmicky offense get shut down. The look on Meyer and Tebow's face in the waning minutes of the 4th quarter were priceless

For returning real football to the top of the SEC, you have my eternal gratitude. No more glorified single wing with a fullback masquerading as a quarterback at the top of the standings. The SEC is the closest thing to the NFL out there. Thank God, now it'll start looking like it again.

I agree so much with this. They line up and they run the football, and they beat you. I like watching them play, and hope that is where we're headed.

You would think that would put an end to the conversation on these boards about the spread being a magical offense that is the only viable option in modern times, but it won't. Good players who have the benefit of good coaching will win, whether lined up in the spread, the I, or the wishbone.

Personally, I'm also happy to see football look like it is supposed to look, both on the Hill and at the top of the conference.

Saban's hiring at Alabama changed this league for the better. He showed up, didn't give a damn about toothless rednecks babbling about "tradition." He simply showed up and got down to the business of building a national title quality team. If Alabama hadn't been the first one in the new era pool, Tennessee never hires Lane Kiffin.

Alabama also bumbled through a handful of coaches that didn't work before finding that formula, but I admit that as I read your first three sentences, they sounded a lot like Kiffin, and I'm glad.

I'd rather Fulmerites be right than see my favorite team's rival take over the conference.

They took it over from Florida; pick your poison.
