This team kind of takes me back to the 2017-2018 Basketvols team. We entered the season thinking we can compete or it might be an ok season. Basically, we expected to see continued progress in a rebuild situation... Then something special happened. Like that team, this football team has good authentic leaders and it's full of hardworking, likable, team-oriented guys. It's so nice to see them put in the work and get rewarded for it. So even if they end up losing 2-3 games, this will always be a special team to me.

For you young'uns...

Long ago, Tennessee was "America's Team." Before the internet, before the proliferation of television channels for every conceivable interest, there was (and still is) a little radio network called the Vol Network. Started in 1949, it was the first nation-wide media network specific to a particular team or University. Affiliates sprang up all across the nation wanting to carry Tennessee football games. Aside from local radio stations carrying the local college game, there was no other nationwide network for out of locale sports team coverage. This created a groundswell of Tennessee fans across the country and soon, the Vol Network would be broadcasting across the world primarily on Armed Forces radio. Families were raised to the sounds of Lindsay Nelson and later John Ward, and which is why we still have one of the largest fanbases in the world to this day. For many many years, Tennessee was "America's Team" and this was the first building block for VolNation.

Driving north on 81 on Sunday, at every rest stop, gas station and restaurant we visited, people ran up to us to congratulate us and were happy about the outcome. Couple of VT fans, some UK fans, an Ohio State fan, and just everyday people had watched the game and were thrilled. Once again, its Great to be a Tennessee Volunteer!

That game had a huge audience either live on tv or thru YouTube and other social media for the end of it or thru highlites.
i am hearing from and reading about so many college football fans saying they are a primary fan of another school but they have now adopted us as their second favorite team.

Why?
We just beat an unlikable entitled king 🤴 of college football team and their very unlikable curmudgeon coach.
We now play an exciting brand of football.
Our passionate fans are contagious and fun to be around.
Players like HH who are just nice humble guys that don’t brag or berate opponents.
Our “every man” type Head Coach who is so relatable.
Smokey
The Vol Navy
The Pride and running thru the T.
It is indeed Great to be a Tennessee Vol even for those with shared allegiances.
And for those of us who have always had the Vols as our primary love, there’s no 3 finer words to say (and know it’s really true) than..
WE ARE BACK!!!

I hear it was a little more than 6 million

6 Billion - China and India were cheering for us as well.

And we cannot forget the amazing FREE Hype from our good friends at ESPN for deciding to host Gollege Game Day in Knoxville twice in 4 weeks. Unprecedented for any program to receive that attention twice in a season, let alone so close together. They were OUR VEHICLE to spreading our brand and helping us become one of the country's most beloved and envied programs. And doesn't hurt to have Peyton on the set, McAfee jumping in the Tennessee River and Corso donning Smokey's head.

Desmond Howard also picked UT and was apparently smoking a cigar with VFL Joey Kent after the game. Also Paul Finebaum picked UT on SEC Nation and made a show of it. Came out in a UT casket, everyone thinking he was going to “bury” UT. Another host opened the casket and Paul jumped out in a UT jersey screaming Go Vols!

lol, I just watched a youtube video of a gator fans reaction to the Vols "game for the ages" win over the gumps. He was loving us even though he said we was rooting for bama over us because he hates the Vols. Yet he gushed over the Win and appeared to generally love us for a brief moment. Nothing but praises for the Vols.

Like I'm sure so many of you out there, my phone lit up. People I know from all over the US and other countries (Army friends) texting and calling with congrats, and great game comments. Still getting some from work colleagues. The funny part, not a peep from all those Bama friends I have. Haha. I think it’s time to reach out to them. hehe.

Same here. Strange that I haven’t heard a peep out of the only bama fan I know. 🤔

It reminds me of Oregon during the early chip kelly yrs. Fun to watch offense, cool uniforms, beat the big boys. Every 12 yr old had a duks jersey.
