"That's American Politics, Pure and Simple"

LG will have a point if provisional ballots are ever done away with, but as long as every state will provide a provisional ballot to someone who fails to meet certain criteria, being disenfranchised is impossible.

If your polling places are like mine, they have pretty much the same people staffing them every year. So, unless your 80 year old person just moved to town, chances are he or she has voted many times before and they are well known to most of the people there. Their vote will count just like everyone else's.

Are you not paying attention? That is PRECISELY the kind of thing the far right doesn't want. Because we all know that the Dems will go to the trouble of having people go in and pretend to be someone else to cast votes.

Its happened literally a handful of times and so we must spend millions and millions of dollars (what happened to budget restraint?) to combat all of this fraud.

And so thousands of minority and poor voters are turned away simply as a consequence of battling this non-existent fraud. Oh well!!

It's the mindset of our country and it's people that we must overcompensate by factors of 100 to combat a minority of fraudulent behavior.

Are you also telling him to play his football at Ole Miss?

No way! He thinks he wants to play football, wrestle or toss the 18lbs shot, but I'm training him to be a lawyer so he can register his people to be something besides "D"s.

In this particular instance, that is so because the claim that these programs are to combat nonexistent fraud is a complete lie.

the inconvenience of getting an ID is pretty much nonexistent too yet you ignore it

The claim that Rs are pushing for voter ID to disenfranchise the elderly is odd since the elderly tend to vote R more than D. 53 to 45 in the 2008 election.

No, its the poor elderly, particularly black and poor.

You are right, I'm not paying attention because the way you are jumping off track. In your world I guess that means you won. Maybe we should vote on it.

the fraud is a bigger issue than voters getting an ID. The fact that people think you can get through life without an ID of any kind is mind bottling.

is no ID required to get federal aid? How do they expect to ever get a job without an ID?
