That's racist!

The manager or whoever called the cops very well may be racist but why didn’t the guys just leave when the cops told them to? I don’t care who you are, when asked/told to leave private property you do.
I certainly wouldn't stay where I wasn't wanted, except on this forum.

I didn't do anything or talk to these kids. To assume it wasn't racial because you still have some questions is the exact same thing you are accusing others of doing with this Starbucks issue. As far as I know, it was my skin color based on racial comments. It's amazing how my account can't be true because of my skin color. What a ridiculous way of thinking. Let's review a breakdown..

Accusation of racial incident with a POC as victim:
People want more information. People say sometimes false accusations occur and it's best to see if it's something different.

Ktown gets upset and says they should be believed because POC dont lie about that.

Accusation of racial incident with a white person as victim:
ktown doesn't believe it because black people wouldn't do that and there has to be a different reason. Quotes a recent false accusation.

hm.

They had evidence. Saying I got jumped 30 years ago really isn't. I also pointed out that there have been many claims of violence from blacks proven false. From lynchings years ago to fake news stories and false police reports now. Not so much the other way.

In 40 years living and hanging in black neighborhoods I have never seen someone beat up for being white. I have seen someone white beat up. It was for other reasons though. So that is hard for me to believe. Anyone that is trying to say they haven't seen a million instances of racism against black people in America is lying though.

I do admit one is much easier to believe to me. It happens a lot. Your scenario is a rare occurrence. When those situations allegedly occur they are usually proven to be false or incited by something the white person did first.

You made a good point though. I will now default to believe the victim black or white. Then if proven wrong I'm wrong.

Theres nothing anyone can do about this incident. These kids wont have a civil case either.

They weren't kids or boys. They were grown men having a meeting. You can sue for pretty much anything now though. They'll get an ooc settlement to make it go away.

My suggestion would be to wait for more facts to come out. If it's racist then it is. Personally, I haven't deemed the managers actions as racist or not yet. Could it be? Sure. An investigation is taking place and I hope the truth reveals itself so we can address it appropriately.

I've seen racism against black people. I'll share one that happened after that transfer I mentioned. One bus went to my part of town from the magnet school. There was one bus that had a majority of minorities. The bus I was on. It was nicknamed "The black bus" by the kids in that school. It happens and should be corrected everytime it does. Was is direct racism? No but it implied the bus carried inferior people. That wasnt true. The people on that bus were intelligent, funny and all college graduates. Every. single. one. that I rode with.

Sure you don't throw a slur or something out there? And they told you they beat you up because you were white? It wasn't because you were a butthole or something? It wasn't a mugging? School fight? Like y'all say I need all the facts before I believe some people just jumped you because you were white.

I grew up in black neighborhoods. Hung out in some pretty bad ones back in the day with some tough people. Never have I saw someone assulted just for being white. I have seen white and black people beat up, all for specific reasons.

Anyone that has actually spent time in a black neighborhood know how welcoming the people are to all.

Look at mass shootings. White people commit the random acts of violence and racist violence against strangers usually. Black people not so much.

With all that said. Even if on the miniscule chance you are not making this up that changes nothing.

Black people face racism everyday and most incidents are not made up.

And there are some black people that are racist too. I never said they are not any. Doesn't change that most racism is by whites against black people.

Never been in a Starbucks, and don't intend to start.

I’ve never been in one of their stores but grabbed a cup of what they consider coffee at the airport once. Guy looked at me like I had two heads when I asked for just plain black coffee.

It sucked, haven’t had any since.

Now the question is... do you put Starbucks manager on the resume or nah?

I'm sure she got a severance package though

You haven't missed much...other than burnt coffee and the ability to read War & Peace in the time it takes some of these people to bark out their coffee order.

Just remember...the longer the coffee order the bigger the a-hole!

If she followed company policy then I see a nice payday in her future.

On a side note, this is awesomely funny!

“Starbucks coffee is anti-black,” about two dozen protesters chanted as they first filled the coffee house after 7 a.m.

I would like to see how this plays out. The SJW will most likely demand Starbucks do away with this policy. If they do, downtown Starbucks will become hobo camps in short order. Then the SJW will eventually forget what they asked for and start complaining that Starbucks needs to do something about people coming in and not buying anything.

Step 1 complete.

They also want an official apology to the men and the black community at large and demand that "Starbucks create and publicize a new policy that expressly disallows calling the police on citizens," according to the Facebook page.

lol they want Starbucks to apologize to people that weren't affected. Uh no. They'll apologize to the two that were and that'll be the end of it.

I understand where you are coming from about the hobo's thing. No business wants that element in their store... I have asked people to leave my branch at First Tenn Bank when it was clear their only purpose was to lounge on our couch in the lobby and watch television... and yes, those people did just happen to be black. However, calling the police should always be the last resort especially at a place such as Starbucks which openly caters to people who wish to use wi-fi and otherwise engage in "chit-chat" conversation.

You live in one now?

About 50/50. We have a nice condo right now.

We are actually looking for a nice big house in a quiet part of East Knoxville to renovate. Knoxville only has a few neighborhoods that are mostly black that are nice. Places like Charlotte, Atlanta, or Nashville have a ton. If I was in one of those cities I would probably be in a "black" neighborhood now.

I think you confuse moving from a poor neighborhood to a rich one as black people trying to escape other black people. For some self haters that is what it is.

For most it's a matter of quality of life. I like to shop at Publix for example. No Publix anywhere near the black part of town. I like to eat out at different places. All the nice restaurants are down west. I shop a lot. All the shopping places down west.

Black people don't get money and move to the "white" part of town. They move to the nice part of town. In most cities that is a "white" neighborhood. Not in every city though.

There are plenty of bad "white" neighborhoods in South Knoxville, Knox county, and North Knoxville. I wouldn't move to any of those. I know plenty of people from poor "white" neighborhoods. They move to the nice part of town when they become successful too.

I mean how often does this happen? It’s happened here and it’s national news. The MUCH more likely scenario is this policy is used to keep bums of any race or sex out. Not to run off black people who won’t buy stuff. Starbucks is deeply supportive of SJW causes and diversity/inclusion, they are not secret racists. Thy have sensitive clients and employees, their corporate culture reflects that.

And employees call the cops because they are told to call the cops. Just like the security people at Target or Walmart aren’t supposed to chase thieves. No large company wants employees manhandling disruptive customers, the civil and social ramifications can far outweigh the immediate decision. They’re happy to have the police do that.

So I can get a haircut, some soul food things like that. Plenty of cities have areas where people with common interests congregate. Nothing wrong with that. That is why we have Little Italy, Chinatown etc in many cities. Hipsters in Portland and Austin.

What ignorant point did you think you can twist out of my words?

Just sounded racist to me to want to associate with your own kind. You can always drive for soul food and a haircut.
