That's racist!

Here's the WaPost article:

https://www.washingtonpost.com/technology/2021/11/21/facebook-algorithm-biased-race/

Are you sure it says what you claim? Not from my reading of it. I see no mention of white male

It's a mixed bag. Here's from the WaPo article

The article added:

“But this statistic hid a serious problem that was obvious to researchers: The algorithm was aggressively detecting comments denigrating white people more than attacks on every other group, according to several of the documents.”

It continued:

“One April 2020 document said roughly 90 percent of ‘hate speech’ subject to content takedowns were statements of contempt, inferiority and disgust directed at white people and men, though the time frame is unclear. And it consistently failed to remove the most derogatory, racist content.”

Now the question is - is this a problem with the algorithm missing hate speech aimed at minorities or is it an accurate algorithm reflecting the actual content on FB?

The gist of the article suggests the former. Still it's hard to imagine that it is so far off that it is reversing the actual proportions.

Over the decades as broadcast television pushed the envelop of societal decency, those complaining were told to "not watch" or "turn it off". Those against porn were told "don't buy it if you don't like it". Same admonition for those against salacious music.
Why doesn't the same go for facebook, twitter, IG, Tik Tok, Reddit, etc? Don't like Nazi content, turn off the platforms. Don't like false content, don't subscribe. Don't like black nationalism or hate against men, don't click on the post.

Why didn't the gander get what was good for the goose?

So Facebook designs a "race blind" algorithm to get rid of insidious racist hate speech. When it turns out that a wide majority of the content being deleted was anti-white, the Washington Post decides that it is evidence of a supremely biased and flawed algorithm. Never the slightest consideration that the algorithm may have been right or mostly right and that the assumptions of the Washington Post may have been off? Elitist pr*cks.

The worst racist language I've seen my wife experience came from the mouth of a black woman.

I played softball on a team of Japanese guys in college. The worst racism I have ever seen in any way came when we played a team made up of 90% black guys. I've never heard the word "chink" used in aggression before, but heard it at least 50 times in the one game we played that team, as well as the term "slant eyes" and "slants". It got so bad that team was kicked out of the league out in West Knoxville. Keep in mind this was in 2009ish- if they got kicked out now the league would have been shut down for racism against blacks.

Oh yeah, this makes total sense

New York Creating Race-Based School 'Affinity Groups' To Combat Racism

A Manhattan public middle school is asking students to segregate themselves next week as part of a "two day celebration" against segregation.

How do advocates handle the cognitive dissonance of segregating in the name of anti-segregation? Like this, care of an email from a friend of mine's private school principal:

"Affinity groups allow people with a shared identity to meet with one another in an emotionally safe and brave space. Unlike legal racial segregation which was a tool to maintain white power and control, racial affinity groups are anti-racist spaces in which participants can build their skills and capacity to unlearn and dismantle racism."
So abbot this "brave space"... what exactly is that?

If all the guy did was mix up the names of a couple students his firing is crazy. Is this where we have gotten to, simple mistakes deemed racist?

Based on this, my father should have lost his role as my dad. Growing up, I thought my name was the first syllable of my oldest brother's name, the first syllable of my other brother's name, and then my name.

White people are under an electron microscope these days. It’s pure insanity. Literally anything you do could be construed as racist.

The more they cry wolf, the less effective it becomes. I personally am sick of these people who constantly make up not only racist claims, but make up things that they now perceive as racist that have never, ever been racist. The world would be so much better if these people had never drawn breath. They cause nothing but strife and add zero value to our country.

There are many situations that the oppressed must keep wary about. For example, they must be aware of the oppressors trying to help the oppressed. These people are deemed falsely generous, and in order to help the oppressed, one must first fully become the oppressed, mentally and environmentally. Only the oppressed can allow humanity to become fully human with no instances of objectification

Pedagogy of the Oppressed

If you're white, your "allyship" is problematic because you're not adequately "oppressed". At least when they define being adequately oppressed they admit they want you to be equally poor "environmentally oppressed"
