That's racist!

The conversation wasn’t limited to “Baltimore itself” and the size of the group doesn’t matter at all. If the group of racists is a small group that’s a good thing, even less reason for people to feel attacked/get defensive on those racists’ behalf (especially when we agree that the DEI comment was a bad one)

Of course the size of the group matters. If it is 20 idiots with Westboro Baptist then who cares, why give them oxygen.

Anyone who has half way been following the media narrative over the last decade or so knows exactly who this guy is talking about which is a very large group of whites on the right who many on the left deem to be racist bigots (deplorables some would say) who are under the spell of the chief racist bigot, Donald Trump.

His comments were as dumb as those calling him DEI mayor and furthers the idiotic race narrative that divides America.

The DEI mayor stuff and people being weird and racist toward the mayor has been everywhere, and those people are trash. If he says so, then he’s “attacking white people” according to liars. People here used to get mad at those who would go out of their way to claim victimhood, and now are doing it themselves. Trump was never mentioned once lmao

His comments have to be taken in context with the larger overall picture where media has been attacking whites and more specifically right wing whites over the last decade.

The Mayor could have easily taken the high road while pointing out the idiocy of their name calling, however he didnt do that did he? He went on major media, acted like a victim and continued the race narrative.

Your gaslighting is noted though.

Lmfao “gaslighting” would be taking someone’s comments about racists and saying “ignore his actual words, this is actually about all white people bc [insert recycled BS about the media hating white people]” but good effort, maybe look up the word so you can use it properly in the future

It isnt gaslighting, my friend. Anyone who hasnt lived under a rock for the last decade know who and why he is saying what he said. You trying to minimize it and act like there hasnt been a concerted effort for the last decade (at least) to push this race narrative, is the very definition of gaslighting.

He is talking about racists. Goodness people are dumb
I won't pretend to know his personal beliefs or a lot about his past rhetoric.

But there are people on this earth who are unfortunately racist. There are also people on this earth who use the term white and racist interchangeably...........

I can only hope a city wouldn't elect either to a position of such power.

Everything is not motivated by racism, it could be the FFs just don't like the b!tch. This federal judge should be removed from any case involving a racism claim.

New York judge says FDNY booing of Letitia James, pro-Trump chants not about politics, 'has to do with race'
I agree no judge should be making claims like this........

But it is the northeast. Cities like New York, Boston, Philly have segregated themselves for decades. Racism and prejudice is abundant and much less polite than the like brand of racism and prejudice in the South is today.

We all saw the “DEI mayor” stuff. We all saw people freak out over him wearing a City of Baltimore jacket instead of a suit. We saw that guy post a picture of his face with “Dat bridge be closed, yo” as a mock quote from him. There was racist stuff all over the place following an incident that had nothing to do with race.

Then the question to him was about that exact thing: the DEI mayor garbage and people saying similar things to that (ie racists). His answer included his own DEI acronym and was addressed, explicitly, to people who are racist.

And yet despite ALL that, most of which is on video, people would rather make things up so they can play the victim and act like white people are under attack. Pathetic

I saw a couple of things on here, that's about it. I've seen him demonized by some and defended by others such as yourself. Hence my comment. Not sure why you included me in that response.

I'm simply stating I would hope no one would elect racists or the like who would use the word racist and white people interchangeably.

I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt.

I included you because I think it is pretty clear who he was responding to, given all of the weirdo racists that popped up nationally immediately after the incident, and that was acknowledged in both the question to him (which was cut off) and his response (that part of which was also cut off). There is no “benefit of the doubt,” people who say he “meant all white people” either have a kindergarten level of comprehension or are making things up.

That’s why the account making that claim had to cut out nearly the entire video when they did it

He meant all white people who dont agree with me politically. Which is why he was allowed on MSNBC to further the narrative. If he wanted to respond without the race narrative, he wouldnt have been allowed on MSNBC.

Lol there’s no point in me arguing with the fantasies you make up in your own head

- Racists pop out everywhere attacking him
- journalist asks him about those
- defines DEI as “duly elected incumbent” while denouncing racists

“White people are being attacked!!”

Insane fragility, if you feel attacked by someone calling out racists then that’s a you problem

If all I've read was a few other responses and yours how could I or anyone with any objectivity make a real determination............. Hence my comment.

The world has become a nasty place.

If you don’t know what happened, and also don’t care to read the thread where this has been pointed out several times, and also don’t care to watch the full video, why are you the person speaking up on the side of misinformation to suggest that he was “maybe using ‘white’ and ‘racist’ interchangeably.” Lazy takes based on misinformation and lies and lack of critical thinking is what got us here in the first place.

It is a nasty place, that’s why people making **** up about “attacking white people” after he spent the last week facing racist attacks for no reason are trash people

I didn't, never once even implied it.

I said I hope no city would elect racists or those that use the terms racist and white people interchangeably.

I offered no judgement on this particular person or his interview.

It's a pretty basic tenant we should all be able to agree on.......... Isn't it?

But he didn’t do that, so it’s a weird thing to say. Last part of your post would be like me going into some Trump thread and saying “we can all agree that telling the American people to inject bleach is bad, right?” and then pretending there aren’t any assumptions built into that, when that’s not what he did

What I did was concede that what you are saying he was speaking out against "racists/racism" as well as that which others are saying or implying he is saying "white people=racists" are both wrong, bad and toxic and that I hope no city would elect people like those.

As I've pointed out numerous times I'm playing the middle road because I'm simply basing my comments on others opinions/things they've said here. I'm not taking a side.

I've seen you imply fragility in those offended by "those people" statements when they've totally misconstrued the statement. I'd argue that's what you're doing here.

In the clip that was posted, didn't he say 'I'm talking about racists' and then tie those racists to the establishment?

A “both sides” approach is not a great approach when one side is denouncing the POS “DEI mayor” crew and the other side is editing clips so they can lie about it
