That's racist!

Do you think there was a racial component to the foul?
We’ve been told there is a racial component to her popularity. She’s liked by some, in part, because she’s a “pretty white girl”.

We know there is jealousy and disdain within the WNBA towards Caitlin - for her popularity.

That’s fine. Doesn’t really dispel the argument that there is some disdain amongst WNBA players for that “one player”.
I asked who has said there is "jealousy and disdain because of her popularity" and still haven't seen an answer other than breathless media. Reese is mad at the people covering the league in a really annoying way

Reese was dripping with it. You’re obviously entitled to interpret her comments however you like.

But sure, if you’re saying there hasn’t been a player come out and explicitly state - “I’m jealous of Caitlin Clark because of her popularity”. Well ok.

But they don’t really have to come out and explicitly state it, to convey it.

Her beef is with the coverage of the league and the idea that everyone is jealous and targeting her is part of that, just like the idea that the entire league is about one person

It reeks of jealousy. It does.

She’s not really great -

What does she really do? I’m not talking about her -

And this is just perfect -

Reese was seen cheering on the bench after Clark was knocked down, which also led to some criticism thrown her way.

Saying you need a ring to be one of the greats shouldn't be controversial. Chennedy Carter was clearly trash talk during a game escalating too far. None of that is "jealousy for her popularity" and these were your best examples

Oh come on. That’s like saying Barkley isn’t one of the greats.

They are both trying to downplay how good she is. They just are.

They’re salty. Because they believe she’s accrued unearned benefits. Due to her “popularity”.

People have enough wild opinions and narrow definitions of "the greats" in the NBA already, the notion that you have to need a title to be one of them is not something so egregious that it's indicative of jealousy. If anything it's probably indicative that Breanna went to UConn and is a homer

How about me as a woman admitting how extremely catty some women are. It’s real. It’s graceless. It’s stupid.
I would say talk to the many many women who cover the sport, talk to its players and/or have followed it before 3 weeks ago that don’t think WNBA players as a group are “being catty”
