The #1 thing holding our program back is...

Look as a fan all we want is WINS

When Phil was winning we weren't up in arms
But losing to VANDY and KY is unacceptable

We should demand better than the product Dooley put out there

This coming from the guy that said "I do not believe that a new coach would solve our problems. I believe Derek Dooley is the right coach for the job. "

You still mad over Dooley Bro? jack wagon fans is a little harsh for a Dooley guy.

Dave Hart: "Now listen Jon, I heard you might be thinking about going to one of our competitors. You wouldn't want to do that, cause if you did... I'd have to have my boys bite you in the old keester. Now, you go on back home and reflect some more on my generous offer."

... Our jack wagon fan base.

We have too many fanatics with unreasonable demands and unrealistic expectations for our program, players and coaches.

Vol Nation needs to stop behaving like 14 year old girls. What is happening right now is only one moment in time. It will not always be this way. Just because Johnny G said he didn't want to take us to the prom doesn't mean we can't go. We've got a lot of eligible suitors who would love to take us.

Stop trashing our players. Tyler Bray is among the best QBs in the nation yet most of you fail to appreciate him. The kid is among the top QBs in UT history. We've got many fine young men who chose us over the 100+ division 1 schools out there. Let's get behind them so they don't regret that choice. Most importantly, we expect them to do their jobs on the field, they should reasonably expect uss to do ours. Fans support teams. They lift spirits. They offer encouragement. Right now we're as poor a fan base as Dooley proved a coach.

The leadership of the athletic department has held us back. The fans didn't give Fulmer a contract stating 8 wins a season merited an extension. The fans didn't sign a mercenary soul who was gone as soon as a PAC 12 program came calling. The fans didn't then go and select an unproven head coach at a mid-major program. And the fans didn't choose to keep him around after he proved beyond a shadow of a doubt he wasn't the man for the job.

The leadership of this athletic department turned an elite-level football program into a national joke. The fans had nothing to do with that process.

Stop being red-ass over Dooley's firing and understand there are valid reasons for fans being upset with UTAD.

About the only affect a fan base has on a football program is on Saturday.. If they cheer loud enough they MAY inspire the team and/or they MAY cause the opposing team trouble hearing the snap count.. Oh yea, if they don't show up, the head coach eventually gets fired...

That's about it folks.. I hope that was simple and easy enough to understand. I know some of you would like to believe different (sorry OP) but it just ain't so...

This. We are not customers. We are not clients. We are Volnation. We are, in many ways, a part of the team. Our performance beside the field affects the team's performance on the field. And it affects the opposition's performance. Our online behavior affects the team's morale.

And that is the same reason that makes our fan base one of the best in the country!! We are passionate, emotional and just love the game!! We love our football and if we are loosing we are sore loosers! I hate to loose and I hate to be labeled a looser like we are now. IRRELEVANT!!! That is not what UT stands for that is not was Reggie White, Cobb, Price, Manning, Martin, Wilson, Berry and all the greats here at UT played for!! Fans spend a lot of money on clothing, tickets, gas, food, rooms, vehicles or whatever they want to use to express their love for UT. If you want to express your displeasure if you support the product you earned that right as long as it is tasteful.
Like if you don't vote you can't gripe!

can you offer one example of the fans holding back our program?

Yep, Dalton Santos and Otha Peters for a fact, constant negativity and uncertainty are very counter productive.
There is a difference between constructive criticism and outright bashing. :twocents:

What? Santos was offered a scholarship from Texas, and peters was offered a whore from Arkansas! Had nothing to do with the fans.

Op, if we didn't complain, Dooley would still be here! Now..stfu

So you are the one responsible for our football program being where it is?? The University of Tennessee is the decision makers, not spoiled fans who have no sense of responsibility or organizational structure. You and the looneys such as you have more of a negative impact on the program than any of the coaches I have seen since I saw my first my first Tennessee football game in 1946. During that period of time we have had some really good times and some really bad times. Until 20 years ago, give or take 2-3 years, the bad times were address with mature decision makes who got us through the bad times and returned us to the good times. Hart will do just fine in hiring a new coach without the lies and personal attacks on the AD, coaches and football players. I guess part of the problem is that it is difficult to see straight with only one eye or it could be only half a brain.

The main reason we're not equal ground with the FLA's and GA's of the SEC is instate recruiting. When we're winning it's not a big deal because we can recruit nationally, but when you're losing it takes longer to catch up

Yes, of course.

An institution that has had 6 presidents in 11 years is the beacon of stability, responsibility, and structure.

Folks like you and the OP need to give it a rest with the finger pointing.

There isn't a single fan on VN or anywhere else that has directly led to the continuing run of bad personnel decisions or mounting losses on the field.

Not a single fan has made a decision to fake a punt or pull a QB. Not a single fan posting here has missed a tackle or dropped a pass.

This institution has had a systematic lack of focus and leadership from the top down for over a decade. It's trickled down to the athletic department and led to one bad decision after another.

It's becoming more apparent with each passing day that another in a long line of bad decisions was Dave Hart.

The football program and face of the athletic department has been without a coach for 2 weeks now with no end in sight. Each passing day leads to more absurd rumors and claims, all of which shed a bad light on UT.

That may be part of the problem, but we can't recruit what we do have in the state.

Do we need a running back? YES!

We have two great running backs coming out of Tennessee the next two years, Corn Elder and Jalen Hurd. Neither are considering Tennessee at this point, nor were they considering Tennessee when Dooley was
still coach.

You can blame it on lack of in-state talent, but Tennessee is going to put out some great prospects in the next two years.

To bring it back to the OP's point, if not for the fan base, Hart could get complacent with 7 or 8 win seasons. The fan base will not let that happen here. Whoever is coach better get his jackwagon in gear and recruit and coach because if he doesn't the fan base will demand a change. This is not Vanderbilt.

Respectively, It is the 2000's where the rule of the day is instant gratification. In CFB it means you have 2-3 years to win 10 games. As you well know in days gone by coaches had 5 years to implement a PLAN and see it to fruition. lThe B Bowden's & Frank Beamer's of the coaching world would have been fired if starting in the 2000's. Not to mention those like Coach K at Duke.

LOL..below see what I mean? 2 whole weeks at season's end where successful HC coaches would not jump ship b4 season's end.

The football program and face of the athletic department has been without a coach for 2 weeks now with no end in sight

The Jack Wagon is the sports model of the Chuck Wagon sedan base model.

It comes in 3 available trim packages which include alloy wheels, tilt steering, leather, sunroof, and a premium undercoating package.

What will it take to put you in one of these bad boys today? Let me talk to my manager and help me help you.

You miss the key point of that statement. It's not instant gratification that I am personally expecting, but where is the end game for Hart?

He could at least give some type of timeline for a hire and this Gruden situation could have been diffused easily enough without making UT a punchline yet again in the national media.

I agree with you somewhat...we have been quite whiney lately but we've had a lot to be whiney about. At least we are passionate & there are a lot of us. If nothing was being said by our fans, we really would be irrelevant. We need to see who Hart comes up with, then back the new coach and act like the VFLs we are!!
