Gotta also disagree with peaygolf's assertion that Sergio has no chance. He's come way too close way too many times in the majors to be counted out of it. However, I'll agree that there's no way Augusta runs a 15+. Maybe a 14, but not past 15.

Faldo did say the greens at Memorial were running 15... it wouldn't surprise me if Augusta ran over that on a particularly dry afternoon...

when the pros are hitting everything 4 feet past, they're really quick. 15 is certainy doable today. I played Augusta when they were slow, according to the members, and they were as fast as anything I've ever played.

Harrington leads the tour in scrambling and putting, and is 9th in top ten finishes. T2 in scoring average, but a whopping 134 in driving accuracy... Is it Paddy's time?

Allenby and Leonard lead greens in regulation, but are 65 and 162 in driving distance...

Phil leads scoring average, but is 155 in driving accuracy..

My point?... toss away Eldrick Woods, and I don't know where you look for a favorite.

I'm not certain how relevant any of those stats are when considering the U.S. Open. For instance, the greens are so much faster in the U.S. Open than they are in the PGA Tour as a whole, that the ability to be near the top in greens in regulation on the PGA Tour will not necessarily translate to hitting a lot of greens in regulation in the U.S. Open, particularly if you aren't hitting the fairways.

look at any ratio of wins to tourneys played, including Majors, and Nicklaus isn't even close. I mean, it's not even close. I will grant you that there were more true greats of golf in Nicklaus' day, but the depth of the fields was absolutely anemic compared to today.

Make all the arguments you'd like, but you might consider sticking to playing golf rather than talking about it.

Yes, 15 at Augusta. 15 at Muirfield. Buddy of mine just finished the Nationwide event in Raleigh and said those were 15 on Friday and Saturday.

15!? NoChance! He is wrong! Ask any USGA or PGA Official what the regulations are. 15 is not an option!!!!! Not playable!

You played Augusta National???? Ok! Me too! Never ran a 15! Honors Course, Oak Hill, Seminole, and Pine Valley were all faster.

Sergio can win if he putts great!! Not his strength. He did putt very well at TPC! He has as much talent as ANYONE on the PGA tour, but putting has been a problem in the past. If he putts well, he is always a contender. I think he is great and I really like him. His game fits the US Open to perfection....except for putting!

I have forgotten more "golf" than you know! Tiger WILL be the best, but not yet!!!!!! 15 on a Nationwide event???? Really??? NO CHANCE!!!!!

You "may" have me in football, but not golf. Sorry! I do like your confidence...that is what makes a great golfer great!

Golf Channel coverage from Torrey is under way. Aerials of the holes, though they give no sense of depth, show a stunning setup...

Tiger's presser will be replayed at 4pm.

By the way...
Tiger WILL be the best, but not yet!!!!!!
If he will be the best, then it's logical to say that he is the best. All history has a present. So what will be... is.

I'll trust him further than I trust you. He said they were rolling 15. It ain't in him to lie about it.

The Honors (I'm assuming you mean outside Chatt.)wasn't close, nor was Seminole. Pine Valley was comparable.

As to Sergio, you said he has no chance. Which is it? I think he wins if he putts reasonably. If he putts great, he kills the field.

Your comments this time around abolutely mirror mine that you discarded the first time. How is anyone supposed to buy anything you say? Nonsensical.

I suspect that you haven't forgotten more golf than I know. You might be able to beat me at golf, but you don't display the capacity to have forgotten more about it than I have learned.

IMO, Tiger is the best golfer to ever play. If longevity is part of your argument, then Jack is the winner. If you're looking at out and out ability to dominate golf, Tiger is untouchable. Too much of his game is THE best on the tour. Nicklaus could not make the same claim.

Reporter: Sergio, do you think Tiger is as much a favorite coming in with the knee, that he might ordinarily be?....

Sergio:Absolutely! Like Big Brown with the hoof, he was still the favorite...

Reporter: And where did Big Brown finish?....

that's a great quote...but the rest of the field had better hope that Tiger doesn't hear it....

I hear you, but there aren't many Open setups that suit him. This is one, but his Driver has been awful lately and the layoff can't have helped.

I would think if I ever wanted to egg on Tiger, now would be the time.

i'm not 100% familiar with the course, but from what i've seen it doesn't appear to set itself up around a few holes to neccessarily be a good spot for spectators.

I never said lie!! He just embellished the speed. No green will run a 15 on a flat putt. That is how the speed is measured. 15 flat would be 20 downhill, not playable.

Sergio will not win because of his putting. I said "IF" he putts great, he could win, but he will not. I would love to see it, I like him alot.

Green speeds.....I've caddied on tour, know many players and caddies....no green has ever run a 15 on a flat putt. sorry.

The fastest I've ever heard of is a 13.5-14 reading at Muirfield Village for the Memorial one year. Putting downhill on that would be like putting down your windshield and trying to stop the ball on the hood.

you'll need to take up this debate with Nick Faldo, who said those at Muirfield were running at 15. I'm not sure he can match golf wits with you and he probably doesn't know as many golfers or caddies, but he said what he said.

I don't like Phil's driving or his history at the US Open, but I sure like him on his home course with wider fairways and an iffy Tiger.
