WHat made you think the Browns would make the playoffs? THey beat one team with a winning record, the Seahawks no less. Not to mention it's the Browns.

I'll admit I thought the Browns would compete... until i watched their pre-season game with the Giants. I know it was preseason, but that did it for me sorta.

Braylon Edwards leads the league in drops. Derek anderson isn't playing that well.

1. Jets have winning record; make playoffs.
2. Rodgers misses 3 games with an injury; the other 13 games, he goes 6-7.
3. Colts are a wild card team.
4. Browns make it to the AFC Championship.
5. Felix Jones has more rushing yards than D-Mac.
6. Giants don't make playoffs.
7. Cowboys, again, lose in their first playoff game.
8. The Dolphins will beat the Patriots in New England.
9. Biggest dissapointment: San Diego Chargers
10. The Titans flirt with the playoffs again leaving their destiny in the hands of 4 meaningless games in Week 16

Whoooops!

It's really funny out of almost all of the predictions thrown around here that the most fantastical one is the one that would come true....

I honestly didn't see the Titans going over .500 even 4 games into the season.

After watching them in the first four games I knew they had something special. I didn't think they would get through the season with two losses however.

I should have said that I thought that Fish would put Young back in.

Nobody really had the titans doing much did they. Personally i thought they'd flurt with the playoffs again. After i saw the defense was going to be good, i felt better about it. Kerry collins was a god send early on for this team. I don't think we would have made the playoffs with vince under center.

Yeah, my prediction for the Titans was based on VY playing the whole season. No one thought Kerry would be leading the team to the number 1 seed.

the NFL is a fickle one isn't she?

so many bad predictions.

That's the NFL and parity. And it's what makes this sport so fun year in and out...rather than 10 years of Yankees win the World Series or Lakers win the title again

The yankees haven't won it all in 8 years and it has been a while for the lakers. What's more, no team has dominated MLB since 2000 like the Patriots have the NFL

my point was referencing the dominance in 90s baseball and early 00s basketball though to show that the NFL parity is much more enjoyable. Heck, even the patriot's dominance saw their best team lose in the superbowl

I could argue the cowboys or 49ers runs in the NFL. I mean heck the most talent laden yankees have lost repeatedly.

And i never said the nfl hasnt had dominant teams, but it as a league is more designed towards parity and it's part of what makes the league enjoyable year in and out.

I mean year in and out the NFL starts off the season with any team can win mentality as opposed to some of the other leagues which have "your franchise has always been bad and probably regardless of what you do it will probably continue to be bad" teams

You obviously haven't ever paid attention to spring training or this year's playoffs. The Phillies beat the Rays. Look at how many teams have been in the World Series the past fifteen years and how rare it is for someone to repeat in baseball. How much more parity do you need? Did I mention the Rays were in the World Series?

yeah i knew about it. and besides tampa this year (which i must admit was very surprising) and detroit a few years ago, MLB basically followed the good teams stay good and the bad teams stay bad formula...i mean the surprise of the Rays and marlins doing well startled analysts enough to call the season the world turned upside down because this season was such a swing from the norm. The parity does happen in the MLB, but it's not a regular thing year in and out....it's more of a surprise when it happens.

And how in the world did this turn into an argument?

All I said was that the NFL is known for it's parity because that's what the league is designed for...they want the bad teams to get better, they set it up that way with scheduling and draft picks and the salary cap. It doesnt end up either just favoring the teams with deeper pockets or the bigger market teams regularly being better. Parity does happen in the other leagues, but it occurs much more regularly in professional football and the NFL is known for it. More often there do you see bad teams become better / make the playoffs the following year.

When was the last time anyone gave serious consideration to the lions, saints, cardinals, bills, raiders, browns, texans or chiefs winning a Super Bowl. There's no more parity in the NFL than MLB.

lions and texans really are the only ones there...lions maybe when sanders was still there, and the texans will probably get their first "go to the postseason hype" next year. The browns really should fit into this category too, but they got that hype at the beginning of this season

The cardinals, well just look at this year.

The bills, look at the first half of this season and then they went to 4 super bowls (lost all of them) in the early 90s and made it to the playoffs at the end of the 90s

The saints were thought to be the best in the nfc a few times now and made it to that nfc championship a while back.

And oakland, they were great in the early part of 2000 till a year or two after gruden, lost to baltimore in the conference championship many thought they would win and then made it to the super bowl.

Not all teams become world beaters regularly but they do alternate on and off between who makes the post season, wins the division, wins the super bowl, etc. in the modern salary cap era. Even look at the colts and the pats - those teams were terrible all through the 90s and didnt become the top dogs till around 01-02

anyways, i'm off to the movies for the night. peace out.
