The 2008 Carolina Panthers thread

they better freakin' win next week and lock up the 2. that's the only thing good that can come of this debacle.

so did Eli.

in the end, it's what happened, not what might have happened, and Jake's big game performances are well documented.

I like him more than most, but he does self implode alot.

Either way the defense slowly killed us.

no, quit 6 years ago. though, one would be good about now.

yeah I thought you might need a puff right about now or a drink.

This defense drives off of huge plays, like peppers getting plenty of sacks, a turnover, holding them in the redzone etc., and they didn't have any huge plays except for giving them up.

As much as this loss absolutely sucks, at least they are in the playoffs. They have done very well to turn around after each of their losses each season. I would rather lose to the giants now than in the playoffs. Things can turn around and change any given Sunday, it is not clear cut who will win and who won't in the playoffs.

you hear people talk about teams they trust going in to the playoffs......i trus that offense. they don't do anything stupid, tonight in a very hostile environment, they had ZERO penalties. they were able to run the ball effectively. Jake distributed the ball to 5 or 6 different receivers (smith, moose, king, jarret, williams and stewart), the coverage teams were good tonight, and the return game was good. save a missed FG that was blown off course by the wind, it was an extremely solid night on special teams and offense.

that's the good.

everything that was bad happened when we didn't have the ball.

not to be smart ass, but remember that next Sunday if the panthers lose.

they then go on the road for 3 weeks in a row, whereas tonight they had a chance to play 2 games, at home, to get to the same place......Tampa.

nothing is guaranteed, but they put a lot of pressure on them selves for next week.....they have to win if they want that week off and a home game.

pucker factor set to high this week.

The good thing is that we've beaten the Bears and should've beaten the Vikings except for 4 calls that I can single out. So, they'd be the 3 seed we'd play and if the 6 were to win, it'd be the Cards or Falcons at home.

I like us at home.

I don't like our run defense right now.

And I'm getting sick of being able to correctly predict that we are going to run out the clock if we get the ball under minutes to go before the half.

what's that got to do with it?

if we lose next week and ATL wins, ATL wins the division, we go to the 5 seed.

I think that makes ATL the 2 cause they have tie breakers over MIN if they win next week, and they beat Chicago.

so that puts the NFC north winner, say Minnesota, as the three, AZ and the 4, us 5 and Dallas 6

so we get to go to AZ, Dallas goes to Minneapolis.

the only way we get a home game in this scenario is if us and Dallas win out and meetin Charlotte.

the easy thing to do is win in New Orleans and we get 1 game at home for sure. then you just let the cards fall where they may.

no offense taken, but remember what you said before the monday night game...

i do, and i was the first one to post the next morning. but that doesn't matter right now.

all that matters now is New Orleans.

and if you want to know how we've done against the Saints in season enders........go look it up, (since we've been in the NFC south) it's not been pretty.

How many teams do you have?

this is a different year, different season. NO has nothing to play for, the panthers have everything and then more to play for. I said it before, I wasn't so positive about winning the game against the giants, but I was more so about NO and I still am. Gotta have a little faith and support in your own team.

like i said, i trust the offense.

the defense....against Drew Brees who is going to be going for Dan Marino's single season passying yards record by the way, which is something to play for...will have to stop a more prolific offense, passing that is, than they did tonight....and like i said, the secondary sucks.

the can win, they should win. i'll leave it at that.

:eek:lol: I'm sure this is what he wants to read right about now.
yeah, not a good day for me.

though the steelers didn't technically "lose" anything as it relates to the season outcome. they went in the 2 seed, came out the 2 seed, no worries on that end.

it was just frustrating to see them lose, and the panthers lose games because they gave them away.

if anyone cares, since 2000, the panthers are 4-6 in games against the Saints in Nov/Dec.

well I highly doubt that Brees will get 400 pass yards. That would be one heck of a game if he did and give us more heck of a reason to be upset with this defense. I don't think it will happen.

as well you should. in the interest of giving credit where credit is due.........the falcons have turned out very well in year one of rookie qb/rookie head coach.

i hope you lose, but..........

It's truly unbelievable after watching every game last year and seeing how awful and out of sorts we were on both sides of the ball.

Matt Ryan is a freak and is going to be a star in this league.....With that being said I think you guys beat NO this week and lock up the division.

Very disappointing loss. Not having Kemoeatu hurt the DL but the Panthers still had plenty of chances to win this game. Steve Smith really pissed me off last night, if he wants to be the superstar then he should play like one when it matters.

If they can win at N.O last night will be forgotten,if not the playoff run will probably be a short one.

Yep, he will only continue to improve.

That one important catch that he dropped in between two defenders annoyed me. I mean Jake could have not thrown a better ball right to his hands. It's like the balls have to be some sort of circus catch for him to have a chance to catch them.

I don't think last night will be forgotten that easily if they win at NO, especially if they lose their road game in the playoffs because of what it could have been at home.
