We just might have the toughest schedule in the league this year.

HOME: Atlanta, New Orleans, Tampa Bay, Philadelphia, Washington, Buffalo, Miami

AWAY: Atlanta, New Orleans, Tampa Bay, Dallas, N.Y. Giants, N.Y. Jets, New England

If we don't pick up a replacement for Ken Lucas and Peppers (possibly), it could be a long year.

Unfortunately Fox's history indicates this year will be a lofty 7-9 season.

2002 7 9
2003 11 5
2004 7 9
2005 11 5
2006 8 8
2007 7 9
2008 12 4

Not room for much high hoping this year. :cray:

well, it's official. 2nd toughest schedule in the league. i dont' see a repeat of Division champs in the 09 season. no 1st round pick. Peppers has become a huge liability in every way he can become one. the defense looks to be basically the same as it was last year, and the offense....well, they could be pretty good again. but i worry about stopping anyone. especially when you consider we play the giants,, patriots, saints and falcons twice and Dallas. that's 7 games right there they could lose. 9-7 would be awesome with that schedule, and might garner a wild card, but i think that's about it for this year's bunch.

i'm going to say 7-9. i dont' think this D has the chops any more.

Panthers will go 10-6 and score a Wildcard NFC Playoff spot. This schedule sure is tough, but not impossible at all. We really could finish like 12-4 at best...7-9 at worst.
Jake is coming back this year with something to prove. As long as we can get decent value for Pep, and take care of the WR and D-Line positions...we'll have a good year.

the defense will be this team's downfall. unless something happens draft day where Pep is gone and we p/u a 1st round pick and some additional picks to bolster the defense now, i can't see us playing matt ryan twice, drew brees twice, Ele Manning, Tom Brady, Kurt Warner and the Dallas Offense with all that much success. all 8 of those teams could cause our defense huge problems, given the way they played last year.

9 Sun, Nov. 8 at New Orleans Saints FOX 4:05 p.m. LOSS
10 Sun, Nov. 15 vs. Atlanta Falcons FOX 1 p.m. WIN
11 Thu, Nov. 19 vs. Miami Dolphins NFLN 8:20 p.m. WIN
12 Sun, Nov. 29 at New York Jets FOX 1 p.m. LOSS 4-0 streak seems pretty unlikely

14 Sun, Dec. 13 at New England Patriots FOX 1 p.m. LOSS
15 Sun, Dec. 20 vs. Minnesota Vikings NBC 8:20 p.m. WIN should have won in the Metrodome a year ago
16 Sun, Dec. 27 at New York Giants FOX 1 p.m. LOSS
17 Sun, Jan. 3 vs. New Orleans Saints FOX 1 p.m. WIN

Can 10-6 or 11-5 be possible?

Possible, yes. Probable, heck no. Not unless we pick up a strong DT at #59 and get a solid CB in the third. We also need Jake to show up with a chip on his shoulder.
BTW, I have never been a blogger, but I'm going to try. I just started one dedicated to the NFC South. Oh, and it's also dedicated to how much I hate the Falcons.

The Falcons Suck

Interesting draft for the Panthers.

Not sure I agree with most of what they've done here.

I really like how the FO insists on winning right now. The buy-now pay-later mentality can make you cringe a little, but I do like the confidence in the team for right now.
Brown should have been a first round pick, and he would have been a top 5 pick next year. I'm completely fine with that selection.
Not sure I would have gone with the Troy St. CB so early, but he'll definitely add some depth.
I don't really remember Corvey Irvin from Georgia. I am really glad we got depth for the d-line though.
Goodson was clearly picked to replace Goings as RB. He seems to be pretty quick.
This FB was taken way too high in my opinion. Brad Hoover is the man, and we don't need a FB (no matter how strong this guy is) in the fourth round.
Duke Robinson should be a solid pickup. He's a big dude who will be a potential starter at OG by his second or third year. Nice grab so late in the draft.
Captain Munnerlyn is a solid CB. So, I'm glad we picked him up considering we just cut Ken Lucas loose.

I would have liked Jarron Gilbert (the DT from San Diego St.) instead of our second pick, but overall, I think we did alright.
This Brown deal better work out, or else some folks could be on the hot seat.

I was shocked when they announced they traded the 1st rd pick to get Brown. After reading more about him, I feel a little better about it.

The rest of the picks were unimpressive.IMO

they might still be able to pick up that 1st round pick with a Peppers trade. they got brown at good value THIS year in the 2nd round. the DB from Troy by all accounts could be a contributor this year.

i thought it was an ok draft, nothing to get super excited about, but not Oakland bad either. they will need both of their 2nd rounders to be contributors this year though. the defense needs help now.

I remember reading somewhere that many around the Troy program feel that Sherrod Martin is their best NFL prospect since Ware...and that includes McKelvin. (I'm assuming Martin is the guy y'all got because I see talk about a Troy St. CB...if it's the wrong guy then nevermind but I'm pretty sure I'm right)

My jaw dropped when I saw we had drafted a saftey but when I realized the FO's intentions I was very happy with this pick. For those who wanted Sean Smith, Martin outperformed him in every category for a CB.
For those who think martin is here to be the nickleback, this assumption is false. Martin is here to play outside, marshall will cover the slot like he usually does. I think that marshall will probably be named the starter, but both will see an equal amount of playing time just like when ken lucas was here.
