The 2009 Carolina Panthers' Thread

I don't think that will save Fox's job, because he still got tons of boos after sitting Kasay, instead of trying for a 52 yard field goal at the end of the half.
Still, that was a fun game to watch. Moore has no arm strength, but he has a little luck on his side sometimes. That's important.
I don't think he's the QB of the future for this franchise, but I think he'll be competent enough to make the rest of the season entertaining.

I agree completely about Moore ,but he sure was something last night.

If we can get Cowher, I'm all for the change, but I really like Fox's style and hope we don't move away from that too much.

I'm willing to give Fox another year with a new offensive coordinator. But the biggest downside to that is we may miss out on Cowher, and Cowher is someone to go after no matter what the status of the current coach is.

Nice win over another good team. It looks like Matt Moore may have some promise after all.

It looks like Jerry Richardson has two decisions to choose from this offseason.

1. Recognize that Jox Fox is a decent coach and that we will make a playoff run every couple of years when we do not face a 1st place schedule. If he does not want to break the bank after the heart transplant and reward Fox for his loyalty I can see that. I would just ask that he make a few staff changes. Namely OC and WR coaches.

Fox can pin this mediocre year on Delhomme and the glut of injuries along the offensive and defensive lines along with the linebacking corp. And like I said, I'd be hard pressed to blame them.

However,

2. Richardson could survey the coaching landscape, determine that he has a coach who can win games regardless of the schedule sitting in his back yard and go for one last try at the Super Bowl before he goes. Because, honestly, if Cowher is thinking about taking the Tampa job then he would be crazy not to value the Carolina offer more, especially its at max 2 hours away from his home in Cary.

Both directions make sense and I would not hate either one. Obviously #2 is more alluring, but this team has proven that it can win some games as long as the QB isn't throwing an average of 3 picks per game.

And Cowher will end up in freaking Tampa. The only thing worse would be if the Bucs are able to draft EB with their first pick.
2010 is Fox's last year (on his contract) and it doesn't look like they are going to extend it. I think they focus heavily on DTs and WRs in the draft, and then maybe pick up a 5th round QB. They'll give Fox this last year, and see what Davidson can do with a seemingly competent QB in Matt Moore. If he plays this well next season...yippie! If not, then Fox is as good as gone in 2011.
I hate to potentially waste another season with the status quo, but it looks like that is what's going to happen.
I just hope they don't trade D.Williams for a first round pick...unless it's like a top five pick.

Although I'm not totally convinced that Fox needs to go, it will suck if Cowher ends up in Tampa.

It would be nice to beat NO next week, and end the season on a very positive note.

I guess next week will also be the last time we see Peppers in a Carolina uniform.Although he was great at times, his inconsistency was always a big negative for me.I think we will definitely see his "A" game against NO, since big $$$ are at stake for next year.

I'll be going to the N.O. game this weekend. Me and five other guys will be going down to stay in downtown Charlotte on Saturday night, then we'll get up and try to tailgate outside BOA Stadium before the game. I'm pretty excited. It will be my first game since the Denver game last year.
