The 2009 Carolina Panthers' Thread

Go ahead and officially start the Bill Cowher to Carolina rumors. There's no way Fox can keep his job with performances like that.

Actually there is more talk about different qb's. Signing Jeff Garcia or.........picking tebow in the draft next year....why panther fans...why..

Delhomme is certainly part of the problem too, but my bet with likes of Cowher and Gruden unemployed, Fox won't likely survive a losing season.

ELEVEN turnovers for Delhomme in his last two games. Wow!
Fox said today that Jake was still his guy. I just don't see how it's possible for him to keep his job if Jake can't work it out very soon. Sure does suck that Carolina won't get to use their top ten pick next year in the draft.
As for Jeff Garcia...that would be the worst decision since bringing David Carr to Charlotte. He's decent in a West Coast offense. He'd be a disaster in Carolina. I say, give Jake one more chance. If he goes 3+ turnovers again, then just go to Matt Moore and stick with him until next year's draft.

Will he be the 2nd string qb now? It seems as though Moore is always getting the shaft, is there a reason for this? No confidence in the guy to get it done? Can he really be any worse than Delhomme?

Moore just has limited tools, that's why he's never gotten the chance.

But McCown is a joke, Delhomme is done, and Feely was awful when given the full time job in Miami so who knows...by the end of the year I bet everyone will have gotten a shot.

so how bad are we going to lose tonight? :) If we could win one game this season, this would be it. Ugh cowgirls.

another loss as expected...the panthers had their chances though....the one thing I don't get was after the cowgirls intercepted and took the lead 21 to 7 why the panthers were playing like they still had another quarter to go or that they were still down 13 to 7...is it possible to move any slower?

Hate to say it because I actually like when the Panthers are playing well, but they absolutely sucked tonight. The Cowboys played well (like they typically do against lesser competition). I still fully expect Romo to wet himself when the tough teams come in to town.

I felt sick last night. Peppers is garbage. Almost the whole defense is garbage (excluding Beason, Davis and Lewis). I've finally accepted that Delhomme has lost "it". Moose can't get open without cheating. Fox is definitely on his way out.
I agree with you Volwindy. We were playing like we were winning the game and it was still early.
This is going to be a long, long season. It isn't even like we'll get to enjoy our first round pick next year, either. The way we are going, we could be in the mix for Eric Berry, or Ndamukong Suh. As it seems, Everette Brown is just our first round pick for 2010. At least we won't have to take that financial hit with a ten pick.
I just hope the Redskins don't offer Cowher SO much more money to where he takes that job over Carolina.

And they played so marvelously in their past two games... :p

I've wanted Delnohope gone for a long time now, but last night's loss can't be blamed on him entirely, the receivers were sucking last night, offensive line too.

Well I keep on telling people around here we are the Detroit of last year. It's a sucky feeling when special teams, defense, and offense are ALL bad.

Fox better do something fast or this is going to be a long season and his last. The worst part will be watching San Fran draft a great player with our 2010 1st rd pick.:banghead2:

How did we get this bad so quick?

Oooo me, ooooo me!!! I know. I know.

Kemo went down (and so did his replacements).
Harris got hurt.
We got rid of Lucas and didn't replace him.
We hired Ron Meeks.
We didn't kick Peppers to the curb.
Godfrey somehow got a lot worse.

That is just the defensive explanation. I assume the offensive stuff is more obvious.

definitely a tale of two seasons.

"We've got turnovers and protection issues," Gross said. "That's not what we did last year. We won ugly a few times and got lucky last year, but I think a lot of that comes with just building momentum, and we don't have any right now."

And that's why it might help the Panthers to hit the pause button on the season, a luxury that arrives this weekend with the earliest possible bye.

"It will stop the bleeding, maybe," Gross said. "At least we can't lose."

So I have harped on the Meeks choice, but this was actually a pretty good defensive effort. it was close for a while, but when the offense goes three and out 5 of the first 5 possessions of the second half and runs the ball about 4 times, it's tough for anyone, much less against the Cowboys.

Compared to the Giants giving up 31 and with a top 5 D.

I love Foxy actually, but his coordinator hires have been shaky, especially the last two. Davidson and Meeks are hopeless. But I can handle a change with Cowher at the helm, for sure.

Would you rather have Cowher, or Gruden?
I'd be fine with either, I just don't know if I think either will come in and immediately start winning with this team. Cowher will probably move us to a 3-4, thus making Everette Brown (and our 2010 first round pick) an utter waste. Unless he could play OLB, he'd be our Glen Dorsey.
