The Panthers signed Captain Munnerlyn tonight to a 4 yr. deal ..

I work with his cousin.. Kid was a late pick for them but he is a heck of an athlete..

He will be great one day

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The Carolina Panthers have signed the first of their seven draft picks, reaching a deal with seventh-round choice Captain Munnerlyn.

Just found this.. He is the first of any draft pics..

He seemed to be a good fit at SC, lets just see how he does in the pros.

Thoughts on the perceived interest in Michael Vick?

Honestly, deep down inside, a part of me looks at the schedule and then sees who we have at WR and I'm intrigued with adding a different dimension on offense.

But then I think about cost both in terms of inside the locker room and finances in this economy along with Jerry Richardson's weakened condition and I realize it's not a great/plausible idea.

I think ESPN is honestly just playing a guessing game with vick right now and really have no idea which teams are actually interested in him

I really really really don't think Carolina would sign Vick, but it's frustrating me that Fox won't shoot down the rumors whenever he has the chance.
It's gotten so frustrating over on the Panthers message board, that they have threatened a temporary ban if another Vick thread is started before anything is official. Pat Yasinskas says there is "absolutely, positively no way Vick goes to Carolina." I hope he's right. We need to worry with finding a replacement for Kemo right now.

Well I watched about the first half of the game last night and it is hard to have much optimism for the season after that game. Offensively they have some work to do, get settled down, make catches, and hold onto the ball, overall I'm not too worried about it as it was just the first game. I'm not impressed with this Mccown guy though.

Defense...oh defense..:cray: Missed tackle after another after another. It is going to be a long season if these guys don't step up and make the plays they are supposed to.

If we don't get a solid DT, it will be a long long season. Nick Hayden was getting pushed around like he was a high schooler last night.
I think the offense will be fine once Smith and Stewart are back. I did think Goodson did an alright job. He's getting a lot of hype from camp.
McCown sucks out loud, and Matt Moore really isn't that bad. I think he might win the #2 job. Hunter Cantwell was awful, then good, then awful again. Have you seen how the game ended? Cantwell led the Panthers on a long game-tying drive. Then the Giants went three-and-out very quickly. We got the ball back with :10 left on the clock and decided to try for a Hail Mary. On that play, Cantwell fumbled, and the Giants took it in for a TD as time expired.
Also, Jason Carter (WR) got himself cut last night.

What an ending, sorry that I missed that! So Cantwell fumbled...I think McCown fumbled...as did Jake but the panthers recovered that one. Did Moore fumble too? We have a group of fumbling qb's...nice. :birgits_giggle: But like you said, once the play makers are back things will hopefully look better offensively.

Our defense is not gonna be very good this year. I'm not so sure about Meeks.

well the good thing about this season is, if it does turn out to be absolutely awful, you can get eric berry! :):good!:

Carolina does not have a 1st round pick in the 2010 NFL draft.
We gave that up to pick up Everette Brown.

The Jake Delhomme Era is officially over.

Thanks for the memories Jake. We'll always have 2003.

Oh, he'll still be the QB with the inexplicable 5 year extension he was given, but it's just going to be a painful next few seasons.

I honestly feel sorry for those of you who are Vols and Panthers fans this weekend. Ouch. How many quarterback turnovers did you see?

:cray:

Actually I only saw one by the panthers I believe, I only watched the first quarter since I had 4 papers to work on due today. I see I did not miss much, my boss told me about Delhomme getting yanked from the game. I think that is the first time I've heard of that, about time. I've said it all along, panthers will not get anywhere with him at QB, he might be better than the backups, but it's just not working.

Go ahead and officially start the Bill Cowher to Carolina rumors. There's no way Fox can keep his job with performances like that.
