What about Tigger? +3 over for the day, is that not a choke job?

Those greens are dying soon. Note to self: avoid Sawgrass this year.

It's a pretty amazing stat that Tiger has been in the final group something like 80 times and the worst he's ever shot was 73 - which he's only done 3 times including today.

. . . but you can just tell that despite all the top 10 finishes and the win at Bay Hill, he's not all the way back.

Tiger had a bad day and still finished with a couple birds, the guy's unbelievable. You guys who say he's a choke artist, what happened at the open last year???

No one actually meant he was a choke artist, but to pretend he didn't wilt away today is just comical.

I agree. He did a good job of stopping the bleeding, but that start was terrible.

on a side note, I had no idea Stenson had stripped to his tightie whities for a shot at the CA Championships. That's hilarious and sad at the same time. I would post the pictures I found, but I don't think any of the golf thread regulars would want to see them.

His inability to hit it finally caught up with him. Had they not shave the rough to Abilene Muni standards, he misses that cut. Same at Quail Hollow.

i'm guessing between now and August, we're not going to see much of Tiger. He may play one more tourney before the US, but I think that will be about it. And then, unless he wins at Bethpage, I wouldn't bank on seeing him at all until Turnberry.

How much longer do you think Tiger keeps Haney on the payroll

I know I'm in the minority here, but I still think he might scrap some of his Nike equipment before ditching Haney. I think he definitely does one of the two really soon.

I could see that, but Nike's club business would close up shop, if he goes to another manufacturer

I don't think he'll ditch Nike altogether by any means. He's hitting the irons and that 3 wood fabulously. Either he ditches the driver or he ditches Hank and goes back to that low boring flight (the stinger) that he put in the fairway so often. Like I mentioned earlier in this thread, I noticed he was back to playing Vokey wedges in this tourney. I know that players have certain types of wedges they like for certain courses, but you figure Nike could make something close enough for Tiger to use instead of a Titleist. I've even heard some players use negative bounce wedges for certain courses.

Maybe he'll go with Calloway, and he and Phil can bond

If he does ditch the Nike driver, I doubt it will be made publicly and he won't actually pick up a sponsor out of it. A number of players "hide" specific clubs under their actual sponsors headcovers.

Agreed. Not even Tiger, for all of his incredible skills, can get away with driving the ball that erratically. Everything else is fine. I honestly am surprised, though, seeing as how he was in the final group on Sunday, that he didn't throttle back to the 3 wood more often on a course that doesn't require you to be prodigiously long.

I saw him hit the driver on 9 and I'm sure he hit it on 11 and probably hit it on 16 but the coverage didn't show those 2 tee balls. He hit 3 or 5 wood on every other hole.

Interestingly enough, he hit the fairway 2 out of the 3 times he hit the driver. If he did hit it on 16

He won't have to hide anything. As I have already stated, his contract with Nike says he can play any club that he desires

As do most player contracts, but a Callaway guy still hides a Nickent hybrid under a Callaway headcover.

Either way, his driver problems are more about the swing and timing than the equipment.

i don't think many were hitting driver on 16. Tee shot needs too much hook.
