Having all kinds of logistical problems. They are estimating the opening ceremonies might take 5.5 hours! This means they would end at like 2 am, with transport being a major issue at that hour.

Tennis is a weird sport in the Olympics.

Federer only has a bronze medal amongst all his trophies.

Federer does have a gold medal in doubles from 2008, which surprisingly is one of the highlights of his career if you believe him. That was a huge win in a difficult year of his career and helped his confidence going into the 2008 US Open, which he won.

At the beginning of this year, he stated his goal was not to win one of the slams. Instead, he wants to win Olympic gold in singles.

Some of the past winners of Olympic gold in singles, Nadal the exception, leaves me scratching my head. Weird indeed.

I'm wondering if you polled 100 top tennis players with the following question, what the answer would be:

Would you rather win an Olympic gold medal at Wimbledon, or the 2012 championship at Wimbledon?

I'm thinking 95%+ of them would rather win the championship, but maybe I'm wrong.

Ruh roh..

Strikes by train drivers and passport officials threaten major disruptions to the London Olympics, prompting the government to warn unions that they risked public anger if the industrial action went ahead.

Nastia Liukin is a bigger blow, IMO. Hoping she's still gonna be in London even though she's not competing.

To be honest, I was really just talking about my personal opinion.

In terms of viewers and casual interest, the Olympics will probably be bigger around the world.

In terms of pure passion among spectators, Euro 2012 may well be bigger and definitely in Europe.

I'll agree with you. Euro was the biggest sporting event of the summer to me, even though the final result was disappointing. Other than a small handful of events, the men's 100m and maybe basketball, I really could care less about majority of the Olympics.

How much are tickets to the Olympics? Do you have to buy tickets for each event you want to go to, or do you get a pass?

I have a buddy (Andrew Rutherfurd) competing on Bolivia's swim team. He's my best friend's cousin, but I know his entire family really well, so essentially he's my cousin. He's swimming Tuesday morning at 3 am. I'll watch since I don't expect to ever know anybody competing ever again.

Pretty sure events have tickets. Would be a mess if 15,000 people show up for a swimming final.

I went to a baseball game, and track & field at the ATL olympics. It was on a ticket per event basis.

Saw on Twitter (can't confirm accuracy):
There was 176.5 hours of Olympics coverage in 1996. In 2012 NBC will cover a total 5,535 hours on all channels.

And yet, no live coverage of the opening ceremonies.
