The 2016 NCAA Tournament Thread

So, he shouldn't accept his reality as a developing role player on a probable FF team and rather pine for a chance to be a starter on a mid major going nowhere.
Settle much in your life?

I am not saying which is better but it's worth a discussion. However he is an older player and has had plenty of time to develop

Play 30min a game at tenn or watch 37min from the bench while your team is a number 1 seed.

If winning is always the answer then no one would ever transfer from the winning programs

He averaged 13mpg in their conference tourney and is averaging 11mpg in the NCAAT, so this suggestion he's all of a sudden averaging 3mpg, or is sitting on the bench for 37mpg is pretty far fetched.

UVA graduates 4 of their top 8 minutes played guys this season, Thompson would appear to be in line for a starting spot and 25-30mpg for the next 2 years, hard to really criticize that move.

He hasn't gotten to double digits in minutes for many of his late season games. He has 100% been passed over for minutes by someone here late in the year. Never a good sign when you see an "older" player see their minutes reduced.

He's not an older player. He's a soph playing behind mostly JRs and SRs.
He was 1 of 9 players to see the floor yesterday. His inexperience produced a foul and a TO I believe so his time was limited.

If you think starting the season as a starter, then becoming the 6-7th man, followed by being a kid that is a rarely used role player is a good sign then so be it.

I see it as a very bad trend for a kid that moved to better himself. Hopefully he is the Rudy type and loves winning more than playing

He's averaging 11mpg over his last 10 games, not really even close to the 3mpg you tried to portray.

Virginia's 3 best players Brogdon, Perrentes and Gill have all seen their minutes increased over that span as the season winds down. I don't think it's completely uncommon to see seniors, who also are your best players, get a few more minutes in big games down the stretch, but what do I know.

As I already said, Virginia loses 4 of the bigger mpg guys after this season, Thompson is likely a starter the next 2 seasons and playing 25+ mpg...hard to knock that.

If he starts next year and plays those minutes I agree for the most part although next year would be his senior year with a professional career and making $ a year closer

I doubt he plays those numbers you suggest. From the trend of the year I bet he is recruited over

Next year will be his junior year?

Who says he was going to get 30+ minutes here
The implied scenario. Why else would the question be presented?

He's rethinking his decision because he could have stayed at TN for 18 minutes a game.

I know I replied to you but meant it in general.... He seems too slow to play point and I'm not sure he could have beaten out mostella baulkman or Moore for playing time... I think he fit much better in the CDT system....he still has time to figure it out and is playing for a great coach in which to do so.

He said played 3 MIN YESTERDAY not AVG 3 MPG for the season. You're the only one who keeps plugging in MPG for MIN. You twist people's words with regularity on here and then argue your wording as theirs.

I get that, but he had multiple comments "sitting for 37 minutes at a time", "hasn't played double digit minutes for multiple games", "it's clear what his role has become"...he was implying, at least it seemed to me, that DT has become a 9-10 on the rotation guy who doesn't even appear some games, and averages less than 10mpg, that's simply not true, and the greater point being he's a sophomore on a team led by seniors, his role likely grows next season.

His minutes have dropped more than just playing your SR's in crunch time games. His minutes took an immediate turn for the worse in game 19. He avg 24 MPG in the first 18 games and has avg 12 MPG for the last 17 games.

He played less than 10 min in 8 games out of the last 17. Bruin may have exaggerated a little but its apparent DT's role changed fairly early in the season and not in his favor.

Agree, and never said otherwise, what I didn't agree with was the exaggerated part from bruin, that was all.
