The 2019 NFL Season Thread

You didn’t read that correctly. Drafting Mitchell Trubisky over Deshaun Watson and Patrick Mahomes is going to cost you a chance to win Super Bowls

You keep bringing up the Lions but nobody is talking about the Lions. I’m talking about the Bears screwing up the QB position.
How do you know? You’re a Lions fan and all Lions fans are obsessed with the Bears...so your opinion isn’t reliable. It’s a game. We’ll see what happens in the next 15. Quite possible Trubisky never becomes a franchise QB...never have guaranteed he would. As a Bears fan I’ve never lived in a time that we had one...since Luckman played before I was born. Those 3 mid level draft picks don’t have an effect on the QB we picked. As of now he has the same number of playoff wins as your overpaid boy...and a lot less time.

What about the multiple non Lions fans on here that say Trubisky isn’t good and that draft pick was dumb? I guess we are all wrong and somehow you, the totally unbiased Bears fan, is right 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️

Don't forget, they could have traded back to collect more assets. You don't think Kamara would be helping Watson or Mahomes?

No one’s RIGHT about anything that WILL happen yet. Beyond our control. The fact that WE are having this long drawn out conversation over MY team’s misfortune shows YOU have an unhealthy, Rick Barnes level fixation. Would hate for your objective mod status to be compromised in the process. Huffy argues everything and I engaged him once upon a time so he’s not legally responsible for himself. I’ll be fine. Been a Bears fan well before you objectively intervened.

This means that and that means this. No two situations can be replicated. That’s fantasy revisionist what if’s. New Orleans had different factors...and coaches. Wasn’t a fan of John Fox so I doubt we’d have identified Kamara.

Not defending Trubisky tonight and certainly not the dumb trade to get him. But no one had Mahomes at three or even top 10. No one. You assume they could move back, but it’s just speculation.

Well I’m not an idiot or a Bears fan, so yes I do know Trubisky won’t be better than Watson. But hey man, good luck with Mitchell Trubisky 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Don’t want your luck. Seen what you’ve done with it. 😉

I think it’s fair that they didn’t see Mahomes for what he would become. Kind of like Milwaukee taking Giannis. Yeah it’s easy to say now teams screwed up but back then nobody had a clue about the guy.

I think it was pretty obvious at the time that Trubisky over Watson was a mistake. Trubisky had major questions and trading up for him for one spot was worse.

Trubisky over Watson was a mistake. You can scream and whine and argue no one can predict the future all you want, but it’s the truth 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️. Maybe the awesomeness of Khalil Mack and Matt Nagy can overcome that (Id kill for Nagy as head coach right now over Patricia) but I doubt it.

Not the truth until it’s recorded as such. Til then it’s an opinion. As of tonight, yours looks good but Watson ain’t played yet. Time will tell. There’s no screaming from me...always maintained my opinions calmly and whining is a wasted action reserved for those with no power in a situation (like a basketball coach getting paid his market value to stay 😏) who doesn’t acknowledge said powerlessness...that ain’t me.

The whole reason butchna and I have debated Trubisky is my philosophy is 1st rd QB's are a total crap shoot and trading back is better than trading up. He used Trubisky as an example that I was wrong. I never claimed to know who was going to be best. My point is no one does, including the experts.

Except the majority of the "pundits" or "experts" had it Trubisky, Watson, then Mahomes for that draft. I have no issue with the Bears selecting Trubisky - I disagree with huff a bit in that the QB is so important you have to keep trying until you get it right (and generally that will be with a 1st round pick). I had a huge issue with trading up for him 1 spot - that was just dumb GM'ing.

Bears will likely be selecting a QB next draft or in 2021. They tried and appear to have gotten it wrong. Try again.

Here were my posts before the 2018 season that sparked the Trubisky debate:

Unless it's a sure thing, like an Eric Berry or Joe Thomas, I'd always be looking for a way to trade back. The draft is easily the best way to build your team.

Your odds of finding a good QB in the first round and in other rounds are about the same.

After First Round
Tom Brady
Drew Brees
Dak Preskott
Derek Carr
Jimmy Garoppolo
Russell Wilson
Nick Foles
Kirk Cousins
Andy Dalton
Case Keenum

Late First Round
Aaron Rodgers

Early First Round
Eli Manning
Alex Smith
Matt Stafford
Cam Newton
Philip Rivers
Big Ben
Andrew Luck
Matt Ryan
Jameis Winston
Marcus Mariota
Jared Goff
Carson Wentz

100% true

At the time I really wondered why Trubisky over Watson, but I don't pretend I knew they were wrong. Watson just seemed like a proven guy who wasn't lacking anything.

🤣😂

So if Gruden was smart and lets Mayock do his job, they could get rid of AB today and it not have cost them a single penny.

The concern was him taking hits. Would he be RG3 part two. Which, at some level, has proven to be sound concern.
