Neither one of these teams haven’t faced a physical defense like ours yet.

If we play our game, FAU will run out of gas quick.

If the referees let Tennessee play their game, yes. If they're out there whistling anything and everything because Big Baby Bilas and the ESPN Pout Patrol whined all week about the "inappropriate phyisicality" of the Duke game - look out.

Actually, they lost to Ole Miss by 13 (80-67).

For what it’s worth, they have a higher KenPom ranking than every team we lost to with the exception of Arizona. We should handle them, but anyone who would have preferred FDU is crazy….

Yeah, I knew it wasn't close with Ole Miss but 13 not 20+. They aren't disciplined and for the "elite D" they supposedly have, they've missed several switches/assignments tonight.

As long as UT doesn't lose poise and try to 1on1 all night, we should have it wrapped up early.

I said we were better than both. Sports don’t carry the transitive property. It is about matchups.

A 16 loss FDU is in no world a worse matchup for us than a 33 win FAU team. FAU is kind of similar to Missouri which proved to be a poor matchup for us twice.

With all of that being said, I don’t think FAU is a 3 seed caliber team. They’re good, plenty good enough to beat us, but I think some of the people underselling FDU are overhyping FAU to an extent.

FAU was KenPom #21 coming into this game. Looks like they will move up some. Tennessee is #6

Right. BTW they are higher than both Kansas St. and Michigan St. in KenPom.
IDK if beating #274 moves them up though…

Neither of these teams match up well against us. FAU is the better team but with our lack of a PG it might be better to play them. Also removes the "historically low seed from metro NYC area" angle. FAU could possibly get hot and shoot the lights out in MSG but they will have to do it while being guarded by the best defense they've ever played against and we won't be running up and down the court we them. We will make them feel our physicality and see how they react. I do wish we had ZZ but Mashack, Vescovi, JJJ, Phillips and Key should be able to stay in front of them.

I feel more confident about the match up with FAU after watching a good part of the game just now. I dont think they have the bodies or the intensity to square up with us.

They at least have a big and will play some down low. They will play closer to something akin to standard basketball than FAU ever would.

If refs called a tight game our guards would get in foul trouble quickly against their speed demons.

#2 for FDU definitely would have been a problem for us if Refs call the tick tack crap.
