And against a smaller team like these two, I think it suits JJJ very well. He may have a game like ON did vs Duke.

I’m optimistic Phillips will show up big Thursday. His body language seemed much improved against Duke and he wasn’t fumbling the ball away ever time he touched it. His athleticism in the lane will be tough for FAU to match

FAU beat Florida and Memphis. I'd much have preferred FDU. Yes FDU best Purdue but even the coach said they lose 99 out of 100

Wow. What a Sweet 16 and a weekend of surprises. My Sweet 16 didn't exactly fall completely apart. I'm 10-6 there, but my bracket is bust into the final 4 with only Houston still standing. But, I did pick them to win it all should they make the run.

Barnes will almost certainly start 2 bigs and see how we fare, not sure I like the idea of Nkamhoua or Awaka chasing around FAU’s 6’4” 4 man but we’ll see. I think going with our 4 small lineup is likely the move and would still expect whoever our 5 is to really take advantage.

I wouldn’t be surprised if our 2 big lineups played a lot of zone.

Will be obvious if the officiating has been altered by the ESPN complaints about the Duke game.

FAU on the season is 208th in free throw attempts per game at 17.4.

They shoot a lot of 3s though, and hit them too. 9th in made 3 pointers at 9.7 a game and 19th in attempts at 26.4 a game, and 52nd in % at 36.7%.

They got one legit big and then a 6'8" guy that plays minutes...they seem to play with less pace typically than FDU and don't drive to the basket as much. Will be an interesting game, if our guards can stay in front of their smaller guards and we don't get in foul trouble I think we have a good chance to win and advance.

Didn’t the worst team in the SEC (Ole Miss) beat them by 13? And they split with MTSU. If UT plays halfway up to speed, they should be OK. I think ON, JJJ and Phillips are the type of player to give them major matchup issues.

Transitive property does not work in basketball. Ole Miss beat them, but FAU also beat Florida in Ganeisville who beat us. FAU is a very good team.

Oh I agree about the transitive thing and they are pretty good for a mid major. But the fact remains that the 31 wins weren’t exactly piled up against a murderer’s row. I just don’t believe they’ve seen a team like UT and the challenges we present. That’s why they play the game though. As we know, anything can and does happen in the tournament. I feel pretty good about our chances.

Thats what you get for doubting UT. The homer in me never allows me to pick against UT, so I still have UT and Houston left (UT winning the championship obviously).
