How much do you think Sabans Buyout is?

The better the coach=the more buyout.

Coaches arent going to sign contracts without a buyout.

If that 2nd sentence were true, Dooley would owe us $5,000,000

i don't like gillespie and never will. so that can't be fixed. unless he turns are running backs into travis henry and travis stephens type players. which will not happen. and besides he's an ex gator using us to get back to florida more than likely cause he ain't promised us nothing.

I guess you missed the part where Gillespie turned down a job at Fla last year...

yeah, he turned down a job to fla, why cause he made a promise and said he is a man of his word just like tee martin did kiffin. so without him not promising us he ain't leaving, i bet he will go to fla at some point.

and as far as english class goes, i am so glad i won't have to ever take one of them again. this is a forum not a paper that determines whether you graduate or not.

govols105, your eternal pessimism has landed you a spot on my ignore list, I hope others follow. Because your so called realism has been overrode by abundant pessimism (and there is a big difference).

I understand man. Really I do. English is such an overrated thing in this country. Being able to parlay a thought into an actual sentence, in a way people can understand, is just so unnecessary.

It's a forum. No need for anyone to be able to understand you.

i have no agenda you people are trying to make it one, i just posted the article and what was said in it because i thought it's stupid to pay that kind of money to a coach if he fails. we have enough money problems at Tennessee but i guess some of you can't see that.

What do you mean by "you people"?

Seriously. What this guy says. I'm not looking for a dissertation. I could care less if it even sounds intelligent. I care that it is actually a coherent thought that is portrayed well enough that I can understand what you are trying to say without having to read it more than twice. It's just short of disrespectful of other people's time to not at least do that.

Tennessee if it were to give butch jones the boot in 2015 would give him a going away gift of $6,000,000. $1,000,000 than dooley got. thought this is interesting. how stupid can we be to even think of giving that kind of money away if he were to fail???

My God, At least let him hold his FIRST spring practice and coach his first game before you fire him.

Always has something negative to post. How wonderful it will be when Jones wins ten or more at least twice before 2015.

Maybe it's because YOU are so damn negative...I'm hoping things go great, I don't have any reason to believe or not believe coach Jones can get the job done other than his past, which to this point looks mostly successful!

Am I missing something to where your pessimism comes from?

For the love of Reggie White, I don't understand why some people are allowed to start threads on here.

So he's dishonest enough to use UT to get to Florida but he's a man of his word, so he didn't go to Flor..uh...duh?? Ohhh... kayyy

Jones will not receive $6 million from the University of Tennessee if we fire him. He has the same clause that Dave Hart has been giving the assistant coaches. If we fire Butch Jones, he has to search for another job. Once he gets one, we only have to pay the difference in his salary. Dooley did not have that clause. I know this still can leave us owing a good bit but at min it would reduce the buyout by $2-3 million. If Butch does not seek another job, we can stop paying him by law (this would bar on us showing legal evidence that he wasn't).

This deal is about the best we could get.

Salient points raised by the original poster with loquacious and vehement counter points by numerous posters.

A worthwhile debate if there ever was one here on Vol Nation.

Although a buy out for a coach before he has ever coached a game for his current school is not remotely germane to our current situation, it does raise a deeper rooted question regarding the ever escalating cost of doing business in the world of College Football. This could be a potential thesis subject for a journalism or business major.

A worthwhile thread and satisfactory read for all members of the Vol Nation.

This thread is dumb as hell and very few posters on on here actually understand irony and sarcasm.

That simplify it for you?

Dude, you misunderstood baldbiker. He's giving you props. Saying your post was well written in comparison to some of these other guys illiterate posts (re: govols105). Or did I misunderstand you here ?
