The All Things Cycling Thread

May have jinxed myself. Went to Haw Ridge this afternoon and I think I broke my big toe. It was really slick with all the mud and wet leaves.

Yep, it's broken... Looks horrible, but it will heal fine. 3 weeks in a boot or ortho shoe... Should be okay for my snowboard trip in late Jan.

Do you ride clipless pedals or flats?

Flats with toe clips. My rear tire gave on a muddy climb and I just fell sideways. I crushed my foot under the bike and my own weight trying to save myself.

Honestly, we should have never been trying to ride in those conditions... Recipe for disaster.

I've ridden haw ridge there are some steep technical sections. Something to consider after your toe heals, is switching to clipless pedals. A clipless mtb shoe is going to have a hard plastic sole and toe box. It will help protect your toes. Not saying you wouldn't break your toe but it might help prevent it. Plus you'll go faster and have better control

Love this trainer. Worked and rode at the same time. It was great. I'm already fighting the urge to buy a crappy bike to put on there when spring comes
