Velo, tell me about the Tour de Blount

I've never ridden it, so I can't say much about the organization/support. I assume it's adequate.

I've done much of the metric route, though not in that order. Pretty nice countryside. The Foothills Parkway climb isn't too bad.

I wouldn't call it epic in comparison to some of the other regional rides, but I'm sure plenty of riders enjoy it.

Thanks for the info. Think I might give it a try.

Didn't mean to poo poo it, if it sound like I might be. Being so close, it just doesn't seem as exotic to me compared to a ride two or three hours away. That's all.

Didn't think you were dogging it. I didn't think of it as a destination event but it's something different, cheap and my sis in law lives in Maryville.

The 6 hr race was a blast. I've never ridden trails so buttery smooth and built for maximum speed and momentum. Even the climbs were fast. The winners were completing 13.5 mile laps in less than an hour

What was your time?

3 laps (43 miles) in 6:42. I took hour and half break between laps two and three.

It's crazy that the top two single speed guys actual finished second and third overall. 6 laps in 6:12. They even beat all of the teams except two. The top guy did 6 in 6:01.

Those are the days when I'm like I could quit my job and be a tour rider. Then I turn around.

Yeah... I left work and headed straight for the nearest Strava segment. Missed it by 8 seconds over 3 miles, but my new bike is freaking amazing at high speeds.
