The All Things Cycling Thread

Vt it seems your LBS owner is grooming you to accept more and more responsiblity at the LBS. can only open doors for you. how would i LOVE to run a bike shop..

The first night I talked to him, I told him it was my dream to own a bike shop... I get a key tomorrow.

dropped my bike off for a tune up. I'm taking 2 half days during the mornings and am going on 2 20+ mile bike rides. Might try to squeeze in 1 more next Sat morning or Sun afternoon.

Owning a bike shop and/or tri store would be awesome.

100 mile race training starts this weekend. Going to be logging some serious miles.

pretty tall order there, jhen.

I hope I'm up for it. The bike leg of the race is 14.3 miles. I figure if I do at least 20 miles each time it should help me prepare for the 5k run afterwards. If I ride Sun afternoon that will be my last ride before the race. Other than a short ride through the neighborhood the next week. That should allow for enough recovery time.

Good luck! road or trail riding? I could prob do 100 miles in a day but the time would be UGLY...

Trail. I will post the elevation gain one day but just imagine the marathon only worse. going to see my progress in a month and decide if I'm going to do it.

21.5 painfully slow miles. Rode with two guys that hadn't ridden in almost a year...

What do you consider slow? I usually avg about 15mph on a 20 mile ride. I would think that's slow to most road bikers.

Our avg was 13mph. I have just stopped for dinner on my second ride of the day, solo. My avg into a headwind is 17mph over 12.5 miles. When I get home I'll have broken 50 miles on the day.

Just shy of 50 miles today... I'm not good at math. But overall, my legs feel great. I love the "post-ride, shaky-leg" feeling. I just went over my EndoMondo GPS data from both rides. My second half of my first ride averaged 12.6mph over 14.22 miles in 1hr 7min* and burned 1166 kCal**. The first half of my second ride I averaged 15.7mph over 12.49 miles in 47min 50sec* and burned 1024 kCal** (into a gnarly headwind and it kept going when I stopped to help a guy change a flat).

*EndoMondo kills my phone's battery because of the GPS so I usually stop it when it acts like it's going to die. Thus, I only get half of the rides recorded. First time was because I used iMapMyRide instead of EndoMondo.

**The kCal rating is most likely not even close to being accurate.

24.5 miles Saturday morning. Probably get another 15 today.

Another hour and 45 minutes. Gps crapped out. Said I was averaging 99 mph. probably did 25-30 miles.

once I get off the stationary bike and get outside, it's like pulling teeth to get me back on it.

I haven't been back to the gym and on the stationary since I started riding outside.
