The All Things Cycling Thread

Thanks tri. I still feel pretty good right now. That might change if I sit here too long though.

I know the feeling. Im trying to stretch more to stay loose. It's tough to find the time though.

dr seems to think not enough stretching led to my problems. I've done alot better here lately.

I never stretch before, always after. I use a foam roller and some tennis balls to massage deep tissues.

I stretch for about 5-10 min both before and after. He reccomended that I go and get a deep tissue massage every now and then but I haven't.

i stretch after. most everything ive read recommends not to stretch before. I just started using a rolling pin on my calves. really helped.

the massage option is great but ive only done it 2 or 3 times. I have a hard time spending $60-70 on a regular basis

the rolling pin is a good option on any body part that is sore either that or THE STICK®

quads/hamstring/calves/glutes/IT Bands/Shins - pretty much anything lower body that feels "tight" it will help with because of the myofascial release it will provide

Your muscles are cold and tight and stretching can lead to injury. recommended to warm up first then stretch or do dynamic stretches like lunges

Word to the wise: don't ride 25 miles of hills and then go drinking lots of heavy beer without eating dinner. "Just one" means absolutely nothing to my friends.

I want a Spooky Skeletor so badly.

Sweet bike. I've never heard of them. Where are they from.

Handmade in the USA, I believe.

Standard Byke Co. is located here in Davenport, IA. They're a small manufacturer of BMX bikes but they're venturing into 700c and 29er frames next year. My shop is trying to get the exclusive storefront dealership for completes. If they do, then I may forgo the AR4 next year and buy a sexy, handmade steel frame.

bike got out from under me on a wet boardwalk this morning. bike is ok and elbow/forearm is swolen and sore. Luckily I didn't break anything. Had to ride 4+ miles back to the truck afterwards. Not a great morning.

Thanks tri. I had slowed down to about 10 mph because i saw the standing water. As I was making the second bend on the boardwalk the rear of the bike just came out from under me.

Wrecking on dirt > asphalt > concrete, from experience.

Today a guy dropped his mtn bike off at the shop, said he was riding the triathlon this weekend, and wanted us to make it as fast as possible... New tires and toe straps and that's about all we could do with 2 days notice and a 2 week wait.
