27 miles - 2300 ft elevation gain. Most of it in the first half of the ride. My road bike was dusty. That is so wrong.

Any of you use Strata.com app?

Strata is what I used today for the first time. I'm really liking it. Really accurate compared to Endomondo and MapMyRide.

Fixed for me.

Ditto. In fact, I need to clean and lube mine tomorrow. Racing a criterium on Wednesday night in Iowa City.

How often do you tits check/replace your chains? I've been coming across a lot of people that have 100% worn chains and don't even know it. A worn chain will slowly damage the rest of a drivetrain. Most shops don't check for chain wear around here, apparently.

I measured the chain (I don't have a tool) a few weeks ago.

I've had a Wippermann chain on that has lasted ages.

I have some Jagwire stainless slick on mine right now. Never liked teflon much, and I can not see myself going cheap, especially on brake cables

Not sure what the "cheap ones" are. I don't have teflon. Some sort of stainless steel (although there's a spot of discoloration).

Cheap ones are just steel. Bike shops can buy them for $0.15 EA and sell them for $5.99. We don't even mess with them here. Stainless or teflon are the only options we offer, and we sell them for the same price as the cheap ones. We make a lot less, but repair quality is much higher.

I use teflon on my road bike, stainless on my mtn bike.

New Reddit jersey and cap came in today. Then rode 6 miles of singletrack. 1500' of gain. 6.0mph avg. Got a KOM on Strava. Was cut off by the sun low and in my eyes.

I went 5 years without changing most of my cables (I had to change one that corroded).

Last year a guy I marginally knew "helped" me replace the cables and housing at the UT bike shop. Actually he did most of the work and I watched. Only charged for the price of the materials. It was nice.

19.2 mph on today's ride.

Did essentially the same ride last evening under similar conditions. This time it was 19.6 mph.

Was the difference attributable to:

(a) Tires inflated to higher pressure.

(b) One or more fewer stops at the lights.

(c) MASSIVE INCREASE IN POWER OUTPUT.

I must say, I'm not overly excited about racing tomorrow. Virtually no road saddle time and absolutely no group time this year... I'm going to get deposed in the first 5 laps, probably. I'll work for my buddy Joey for as long as I can.

C probably but maybe A when you factor the relative humidity with the dew point and road gradient. Definitely not B.
