The All things Lane Kiffin Car Accident Thread (merged)

As I have said before in this forum...do you SERIOUSLY think I'm looking to get my ass sued. OF COURSE I've verified the info.

I'm not saying you haven't ... I'm just saying that there are a bunch of pissed off people in Knoxville that are looking to get him back someway. Do you have pics of him and these co-eds doing stuff? There are a TON of people that would've had to keep silent about all of this. I just don't see it all being true. Maybe the drunk driving. But, not the booster-rented apartment deal. Could be wrong I guess...

I seem to remember an old post either here or on VQ where these Tomlin pictures were posted in a thread. Does anyone else remember that? I think there were more, too.

You're wrong then. If for whatever reason you think there aren't influential people in K-Town that own or have access to properties in and around the downtown area and are also willing to extend an open invite to X to spend time there you should just move on and crawl back under that rock you've been sleeping under.

I'm not saying it's not possible for that to have happened. I just can't imagine potentially hundreds of people all remaining quiet about it, especially when there were probably a few of those influential boosters that weren't his biggest fans. Although Tiger did keep his crap under wraps for quite a while, so I guess anything is possible. But, I would assume that Tiger had a tighter knit group around him than what Kiffin had.

Either way, I don't care. I really don't see this having any effect on Kiffin. If he loses his family, I'm sure he's OK with that if this stuff turns out to be true. And, I really doubt the "leaving the scene of an accident" deal will have much of an impact. I still contend that this will have a much worse impact on UT. This is not what UT needs.

Here comes the gas being thrown on the fire.... I really hope this doesn't end up being bad for our football program.

I think you need to go look at that "turn around" you're talking about. I think our definitions of "MUCH, MUCH better shape" are different. He didn't exactly light it up down there. And, again, Dooley would've left after 14 months if UT, LSU, UGA or any other big time school had offered him the job... as he should have. USC or the NFL were the only places that Kiffin would've left for ... especially after 14 months.

you're persistent....i'll give you that

The genie is out of the bottle. If you guys thought hostessgate reflected poorly on the University wait til a story about boosters keeping love shacks for the coaches hits the mainstream. Should have let it be. It was irrelevant to football. X left good coaches and good recruits but we're gonna have to pay the piper for your acting out from a place of scorn.

How so? Kiffin is no longer associated with this. It sounds like we didn't do anything wrong... just Kiffin.

If Hamilton and our own boosters covered this crap up for 14 months and actually facilitated it, you don't think ESPN and the rest of the media would have a field day with this?????? It would kill us.

I'm also in favor of letting sleeping dogs lie and moving on. We have a new coach now who's putting together a good staff and salvaging some of our recruits. I'm not a fan of what he did, but it's time to move on. Sorry if that post was taken as if I was on that bandwagon.

No one has accused Hamilton of anything, and I may not like Hamilton but the guy seems to be a man of integrity, and I know a lot of people who know him personally and would agree with that. I don't see him covering anything up or facilitating anything. And a booster could easily provide Kiffin a downtown residence without knowing he was using it for inappropriate actions.

I believe Kiffin's "rendezvous apartment" is the Cook Loft, located at 722 South Gay Street. Here's the link:

Hamilton's time is over. He has wanted to bring in all his own coaches since he was hired. It stared with Bruce Pearl, who is one of the best coaches, but the only way Hamilton knew about him was because Ernie Grunfield kept calling him about Pearl and he finally responded. He fired Delmonico who got to the World Series every 4 years and had a girlfriend in every city. But he replaced him with a coach who has done nothing in 2 years and may be a little better this year, but don't count on it. He fired Fulmer and replaced him with the fiasco of all fiascoes ... Lane Kiffin. And Hamilton said he was PUTTING HIS CAREER ON THE LINE WITH THE HIRE OF LANE KIFFIN. Hamilton should be the next one fired. Money had to be borrowed to pay off Buzz Peterson, Phillip Fulmer, and for the remodeling of Neyland Stadium ... and now the Kiffin mess. Haslam, Goodfriend, Thorton, and Hand (UT's BIG contributors) need to wake up and hire Phillip Fulmer as Athletic Director. There would not be a better fund raiser than Fulmer and he gets along great with Summit and Pearl. The head of any organization is responsible for his coaches and the Kiffin debacle is totally on Mike Hamilton's shoulders. We all wish Derek Dooley well. Let's get on the FIRE HAMILTON BANDWAGON and put Phil Fulmer in as Athletic Director.

If all of this turns out to be true and you still want to believe what you just typed, then you're the most naive person alive.

I understand the fire Hamilton sentiment, but hiring Fulmer for AD would be an absolute disaster. I don't see Fulmer being capable of making tough decisions... and if he was AD last week you know our coaching staff would include Cutcliffe as HC and Chavis as DC.

I just have a hard time believing that these rumors have been making the rounds for quite some time, yet ESPN, NYT, SI.com, nobody mainstream seemed to be following the smoke trail, looking for the fire. If this story had legs, there's NO WAY it wouldn't have came out at least when the "Hostessgate" story did, if not well before then. Talk about destroying the team, the program, the university, the whole shebangabang.

Phillip Fulmer as AD would be a train wreck. His loyalty and politicking would prevent him from making decisions in the best interest of UT athletics.

This should be evident from his decision making processes on the sidelines.

No

Kiffin being a womanizing dirtbag is not going to destroy the program if it is true.

Hamilton flushing cocaine for Orgeron would destroy the program, but it never happened. We hired mercenaries, they acted like spoiled children. They may have had borderline personality disorder and in the case of O, manic depression.

Sexual dalliances of coaches and their wives do not interest the NYT. There is not a multi racial angle here that I am aware of, so their Yankee race baiting spidey sense is not tingling.

Whoever wrote that Pat and Pearl would gladly work under Fulmer....hahahhhahahahahahahahhaahhahaahahah
