I have worked in an area of law that seeks to protect free speech, and the GOP and the Democrats curb it regularly when they have a reason to do so. Abortion clinic protesters are not allowed on public sidewalks, bush protesters the same thing. The Founders knew that government would become increasingly tyrannical, and BOTH the major parties are not a place that you should look to if you want to find people who understand or support the freedoms guaranteed by the Constitution and the limitations of the scope and power of the Federal government.
