The All things Lane Kiffin Car Accident Thread (merged)

Posted this in another forum ... From an interview from Volquest ... just sayin':

VQ: Sitting here in your office, there is a pink pillow and a bunch of blankets. (That's not really pink, it's more purple, Kiffin interjects). What have you specifically learned about being back in the college game and about being the head guy at the collegiate level for the first time during this camp that you will learn from moving forward to future camps?

LK:"The first thing I would do is one of two things. I am either going to have a driver or I am going to sleep in the office every night."

VQ: What do you mean by that?

LK "After the 10th or 11th day of camp we finished meetings and coach [Jim] Chaney said, 'Why don't you go home and see your kids wake up? I will take the start of the meetings in the morning'. I was driving home and was about a half mile from home, nodded off and slipped off the side of the road into the ditch. So they joke around here that I am not allowed to drive any more. They said, 'We are taking your keys, you are too tired to drive anymore. So you are either sleeping here or we are getting you a driver to bring your home.' What I have really gotten reminded of is that there is so much to do in a day. That is why I try to maximize every second of every day no matter how hard I have to push myself."

That would either be in the spring or in August... Wasn't the rumor that it happened in September?

wtf? come on man, either spill it or drop it. these clues are lame. that or just pm me the deets and leave everybody else out of the loop.:eek:k:

Here, I posted this in another thread. When I first heard it I was upset and hoped it wasn't true because I was a big Kiffin fan, but it looks like it's just now really coming out. This is as much as I know about it from what I heard back around September, but I'm not sure that every detail is accurate

Well I posted a couple months back something I had heard but it was deleted within 2 minutes. I'll post it again in hopes that it isn't deleted.

Ok, my dad's bosses son-in-law owns Lexus of Knoxville. Well, when Kiffin was first hired apparently he was given a $96,000 Lexus by UT. Around the first night with it he took a girl out (not Layla, obviously) and returned it to be repaired by the dealership after doing thousands of dollars worth of damage to the interior of the car (what or how the damage occurred I don't know). I just know that this guy really hated Lane Kiffin for supposedly doing this. I'm not saying it's true but it's definitely believable, and that guy would have no reason to make it up.

Could this be the same thing the OP is referring to? Maybe, I'm not sure. I'd say that in Kiffin's UT contract it would say if he received a Lexus or not, though, for people who are fact checking. I'm not sure if 100% of this story is true but that's what all I remember from what my dad told me.

Obvious Conan fan. Leno appealed to everyone, Conan did not. NBC should never fixed something that was not broke. It was Conan that forced the network's hand on the Tonight Show's job. The Leno show was not the ratings but the affiliates news viewerships. The show was doing what the network expected. Letterman was kicking Conan's butt so something had to be done. SO GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT BEFORE POSTING! Worst reply to a post on this board .

Through all Leno's big rating years with The Tonight Show he had a good lead in.....Law and Order, ER and so on. Conan was never given that chance because his big lead in was that disaster called The Jay Leno Show. Whether you like Conan or not you have to admit he's getting screwed.

A good read on Leno not long after he took over The Tonight Show from Carson.

Lexus of Knoxville. The guy that owns it didn't like Kiffin after the damage he done to the car

I've met the owner of Lexus and he's not exactly a cool guy either. The White family owns Lexus and Toyota of Ktown.

Several UT coaches have a car/cars in their contract. Toyota and Lexus of Knoxville supply most of those cars!

Lame better hope he signed a pre-nup...if not Layla is gonna make bank if all this comes to be true.

Prenups only concern possible alimony. Judges determine child support. And it ain't usually good if you are the man. Then again, Layla's husband could have a strong argument concerning manhood.

Can some of you apparently in the know of this stuff please clarify: Are we talking just one incident or were there two (or three or more)?

In Cali, the man usually is left with whatever falls out of the back of the truck as the wife drives away.
