Growing up in a town where the big town was Knoxville, I perfectly could relate.

This is me. I grew up in east tn and Knox was as big as it got. Small towns are terrible places for kids to grow up when it comes to things like that.

Add small, Christian school to the list and it's a recipe for disaster. It was fun to watch though.

We may as well have been a christian school. It's amazing the hypocrisy you can see, even at a young age, when you combine sports, religion, sex, drugs, alcohol, and hormones all together.

Can't get past Electro looking like Mr. Freeze.
Well technically that is what Electro (sorta) looks like in Ultimate Spider-Man. If they had made him look just exactly like he does in the comic, some folks would have thought he was the Silver Surfer.

Well, exactly how he looks in the original comic is something they'd never go for in a movie; would barely be taken seriously:

Spiderman's biggest regret outside of his uncle is Gwen. Her dying is like half of his character at least. She. Must. Die.

I agree. (And his biggest growth is moving on past her death, including being able to love again)

But watch what's going to happen though:

She's going to end up having so much fan support/love from the movie/media audience that they go another route or find/force some way to keep her.

It's funny how people don't think comic costumes can work on film but Spider-Man's is 99% from the comics this time. More so than in the Rami series even. (I wish they would bring back the webbing under the arms though).

It could work with some modern tweaks. They took the easy way out.

Sony & Marvel was really pulling out the stops promoting Amazing Spider-Man 2 at Times Square yesterday!

Spider-Man Swings Into NYE Ball Drop Festival – UPDATED with New Trailer!
In the city that never sleeps there's plenty of magical things happening on New Years Eve.

This year fanboys and gals around the world will be given a special treat as our Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man will make an appearance during the ball drop celebration in Times Square. The idea isn’t too far-fetched considering Spider-Man is a native of New York.

The ball drop is by far one of the most paramount events of NYE world-wide, and Columbia Pictures has taken on to that to promote The Amazing Spider-Man 2, by not only featuring him in the ball drop, but debuting a clip of the film’s Times Square sequence as well.

Which also featured an exclusive trailer shown on the big screens in Time Square!

Aside from the script I actually think Garfield makes a better Peter Parker and I love Emma Stone as Gwen.... but I just can't get excited about Ultimate Spider-Man. I'm not a fan of everything in Spider-Man's world being tied to OsCorp.

Hobgoblin/greengoblin/whatever he is looks like some NJ Shore reject. Highly uninteresting looking.

I know he was more of a Daredevil villain, but I wish that one of these spiderman movies would get The Kingpin as a bad guy in these moves, ala the 90's cartoon (which a lot guys my age, born in the late 80's/early 90's) grew up on with Spiderman.

But I know it would take an excellent casting for him to work, and I'm not sure that there are any huge (literally) hollywood guys who could pull it off.

Kingpin was mainly a Spider-Man villian Until Frank Miller co-opted him for DD in the early 80s. Even then he still played a pretty big role in Spider-Man's world. Its a shame they are at different studios.

Marc Webb Returning to Direct The Amazing Spider-Man 3

Marc Webb Returning to Direct The Amazing Spider-Man 3

Variety is reporting that The Amazing Spider-Man and The Amazing Spider-Man 2 director Marc Webb will return once again to the director's chair for the planned third film in the series, The Amazing Spider-Man 3. Last October, writers Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci and Jeff Pinkner were brought back to script the third part in the series which is currently set for release on June 10, 2016.

Star Andrew Garfield will return for the third film in the series, and even Paul Giamatti, who appears as Aleksei Sytsevich, aka The Rhino, in this summer's The Amazing Spider-Man 2, has said he'll also return for the third film, but what other cast members will return remains to be seen.

The Spider-Man universe will be expanding on the big screen even more after the third film as Sony also has a fourth film planned for May 4, 2018, along with two spin-off films including Venom, to be written by Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci, and Ed Solomon and directed by Kurtzman, and The Sinister Six, which will be written and directed by The Cabin in the Woods' Drew Goddard.

Spider-Man execs discuss Venom and Sinister Six spin-offs

Spider-Man execs discuss Venom and Sinister Six spin-offs

As Sony gets ready to unleash The Amazing Spider-Man 2 in May, 2014, director Marc Webb and series producers Matt Tolmach and Avi Arad are busy discussing the expansion of the studio's franchise.

In a recent interview with SFX, the trio divulged some pretty meaty information about Venom and The Sinister Six - and how each might be handled in their respective spin-off movies.

Talking about turning The Amazing Spider-Man franchise into its own movie universe, Tolmach commented:

That’s the new thing that we constructed. We brought in [Alex] Kurtzman and [Bob] Orci
and [Jeff] Pinkner on this last movie as the writers and we fell in love with that dynamic. We were all so enamored of the script they wrote, and just the spirit of the collaboration, that we decided that there are all these other stories to tell: not just Spider-Man movies but the ones that we’ve announced, The Sinister Six and Venom, and they all come from the same place. We realized it would be really good in terms of storytelling to have a grand scheme for where and how these stories grow out of the centerpiece, which is always Spider-Man...

The most exciting stuff deals with the question on everybody's mind regarding these villain-centric flicks: how true to character can Venom and The Sinister Six be if they're the protagonists of their respective movies?

It’s a challenge in every sense. Obviously questions of traditional hero/villain dynamics have to be looked at. At the same time it’s an awesome challenge, because some of the greatest characters are in fact villains, and how you construct that is so much fun. People love those bad characters if they’re good bad characters, and love to watch them. And nobody’s all good, nobody’s all bad...

Avi Arad contined to comment on a Venom movie that looks at the character's moral ambiguity:

Venom hated only one guy – Spider-Man. He wasn't innately bad, he was a shortcut guy, not really into fighting hard for achievement. That’s the Venom story. Can he also be a good guy? As you know, Venom was also called ‘lethal defender of the innocent’. We had a great history with him, especially caring for the homeless, which is a very sensitive issue and something that many of us are very concerned with. Our villains all represent a different side of the misunderstood, and some of them unfortunately turned to the dark side. Venom happened to be a phenomenal character.

It's still early days for both movies, with Drew Goddard busy writing The Sinister Six and Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci and Jeff Pinker working on Venom.

The Venom and Sinister Six movies have yet to be dated. The Amazing Spider-Man 2, however, swings into theaters on May 2.
