Bruce lied about a bbq sandwich and waited too long to come clean (once that investigator left the driveway it was fate accompli). Still, he could've later claimed he didn't get a good look at the pic.

Thinking the ncaa would take kindly to an admission of a relatively small lie was naive. Considering the penalties heaped on Pearl, I doubt any coach will ever consider a similar mea culpa of their own.

It's not about bringing Pearl back , it's getting rid of the current coach who settles for being average, with his boring style of play.

That tells us all we need to know about you then. You don't care how we win, as long as we win. When the NCAA shuts the program down then I guess you're still happy. My God, the sheer stupidity of some people.

How long are we going to go with Martin? It's obvious he is not the coach we need. I see the same problems every game. It doesn't seem that we are improving, rather getting worse. We have some good athletes but they don't seem to be coached well. We are average at best. It's time for a change.

Bottom line: Pearl brought wins, excitement, and National Attention. All of that is now gone. Outside the state, UT BB does not even exist. I wear a UT BB shirt in NC and people chuckle.

Yeah it doesn't exist because of your small experience. Get real. UT basketball was getting plenty of press last year when they turned it around after Stokes showed up. No it wasn't "We're #1" type press but saying UT basketball doesn't exist outside of Tennessee sine Pearl left is stupid.

What....that I want to win....I would much rather have a coach that walks people across campus but gets his rear handed to him by Arkansas.....cal has never had any penalty against him besides rumor and innuendo......the same against coach K, Baylor, Ucla and many many other coaches.

In football Saban's teams have had text books, the autograph sessions, booster yacht rides, Trent Richardson with a few vehicles that in no way he could have bought himself....auburn paid cam newton, Richt and Meyer have numerous secondary violations......if they are not actually going to police the system, why should we care?

Cal has left two programs who have had to vacate their Final 4. Any honest Ky fan will tell you that if something happens then they knew they had a deal with the devil to begin with. Sorry, I don't want to take a chance at getting a title or titles only to have them vacated and our program crippled down the road. Ky's program could withstand something like that. See the probation era of Eddie Sutton and what Pitino did after that. UT's program isn't in near the shape that Ky's program is to withstand something as crippling.

I watch basketball to be entertained and pull for UT. I am not entertained. Frankly, I don't really care if I see a game right now.
Not afraid to say that I would take Cal in a heartbeat, and I'd look forward to going to games again.

What program has really been crippled by NCAA sanctions.....true they may have 2-4 bad seasons but what would be different than now.

Did you enjoy Wade Houston's last year? It would be along those lines. How long did it take for UT to actually be relevant after Devoe was fired? That's probably how long it would take us again. We haven't had the best luck at hiring hoops coaches.

So basically you are saying that its not really the sanctions, its tennessees inept ability to hire coaches. We were not really relevant back when devoe was coach either. Now that u mention it.....zo reminds me a lot of devoe.....pretty decent defense with not much going on offensively.

Recruiting pretty similar too.....hit a couple.good ones .....stokes and hubbs sort of like nix and Greg bell.......then filled around with a bunch of Ronnie reese type players.

2. Skylar should apologize to his team for awful defense. Three critical defensive possessions late in the 2nd half when UT was trying to make a run sealed the deal for Arkansas. That horrible charge attempt was an embarrassment. Martin should be forced by Dave Hart to give a proper explanation why he has benched every player that's played for him in his tenure for bad defense at some point, but McBee gets a pass. That was embarrassing.

3. Kenny Hall played well today. He had some nice plays when it almost got out of hand and made it a game. He is incredibly frustrating, but it was nice to get a good game out of him.

4. Jordan McRae has hit a wall. Asking him to run the point and be the primary scorer has taken it out of him. His legs aren't underneath him. Hopefully he can find his shot back because McRae has to score for this team.

5. Martin's inability to get Jarnell the ball on a consistent basis has been horrible. He's a great passer, but because this team just stands around we don't see it. If you don't cut on offense, you don't play. That should be the stance.

6. UT just didn't handle Arkansas' ability to dribble into the lane. They looked lost all day. The bigs just didn't rotate well today. McRae/Moore/Richardson/McBee just couldn't keep them out of the lane and too many times went over the screen when Arkansas kept getting to the lane. Have to adjust defensively. I don't know why Martin didn't.

7. Bernard King Player of the Game: Jarnell Stokes. He rebounded well with 10 and had a double-double. His D was inconsistent, but wasn't all his fault because the guards didn't defend well. He was 6-7 shooting, and 6-9 from the free throw line. With Stokes, you take that all day.

8. UT's D is not aggressive enough. One steal today? That's awful. Their length should give them five automatically. I know you want to stop everything in front, but you have to be more aggressive, especially with a stalling offense.

9. A positive? UT took the ball to the hole. That was a good sign and resulted in 24 free throw attempts. I actually thought, outside the turnovers, UT did pretty decent on offense. It was inconsistent, but UT did a better job being aggressive and getting in the lane.

10. UT lost. It sucks. They (again) had chances and was embarrassing to watch in the first half. I'm disconcerted with their defense right now. This team needs Golden. We really needed this road win. But UT has a very winnable two games this week. If UT wins those two, that's 4-1 in your last five. It's a blown opportunity, but you got to keep your head up. Not all is lost.

No 4 really worries me. It seems when Stokes was struggling that is when McRae was playing his best. Now that Stokes is catching fire McRae is back in the shadows. IMO we need to find a way to get both these guys the ball and keep their confidence and focus at a high level.

No, it's both. UT isn't a basketball school. They finally made a commitment to it though with Pearl. Dickey had no clue on how to hire a hoops coach. Hammy got lucky with Pearl mainly because other people told him what to do. I don't know if Hart can hire a good basketball coach. We have a lot to offer, but who knows what coach would be comfortable working with Hart who really hasn't had a track record at hiring hoops coaches.

Devoe went to 5 straight NCAA's. His style wasn't the most entertaining, but I'd guess most people would be pretty happy with 5 straight NCAA's under Martin unless they were all one-and-done.

I actually liked Devoe some bc the man could coach but couldn't recruit to save his life....his tourney run was kind of like Jerry Greens...yeah we made it but there wasn't much hope there of going on a run. I realize we are not considered a basketball school but I hate that argument.....we should not settle for being mediocre and should strive to be the best.

Devoe did coach my favorite UT player of all-time, Michael Brooks. I have the picture of me as a kid with Michael. Great Memories.
