Wish I could do the same. I'm going to dvr it, and force myself to not check the score until I can get home to watch it.

Tonight RSL plays Monterrey for the CONCACAF Finals 20 minutes from my house. It's the biggest game an MLS team has ever played in. I'll be at my Grandma's viewing. :eek:hmy:

We were briefly discussing this in another thread, but I thought I'd ask everyone here.

Who do you consider the best player in the world?

It's more fun to think of who WILL be the best player in the world by the 2014 WC..

An easy pick would be Neymar I would think.. I am going to say Romelu Lukaku and Jack Wilshere will be up there.

Edit: and by more fun I mean the answer is Lionel Messi with Ronaldo two miles back.

I agree with Messi being the best in the world. The person arguing was claiming Messi was a great goalscorer but an overhyped player.

As far as the best in 2014, I'd guess Ozil will be up there.

The person arguing against him must not pay attention during the first 40 yards of his 50 yard runs before the goal. haha Also, his decision making and passing is just unbelievable.

One can only argue against it because it sucks having such and easy answer to that question.

Also, I agree with Ozil and will add Christian Eriksen.

Messi will still be the best player in the world by 2014. Lukaku hasn't even played for a major team yet. He's proven nothing. Neymar would be smart to go to La Liga. He would be crushed in the EPL.

Lukaku hasn't played for a major team yet, but the point of predicting something is to guess what might happen. It's fun if you try it.

I hope Neymar doesn't go to the La Liga.. I hope he comes and plays in the EPL and grows up. If he goes to the La Liga he will be a little diving brat for the rest of his career.

Okay, so if Messi dies in a freak accident or, even more freakish, ages and isn't the same quality .. What then Volball? Will we have any good players left in the world of football?

Says the guy who is a fan of a team full of "little diving brats."

In the hypothetical situation that Messi has fallen off the face of the Earth come 2014, I'll go with Alexandre Pato. Young Brazilian who will be surrounded with plenty of talent and looking to cement his greatness in the World Cup in front of his home country.

Lukaku is still only 17. It would be a pretty amazing transformation for a guy who is still very raw. Neymar just needs to play in La Liga. It fits his game much more than the EPL. If he played in England, his involvement would consist of running down the flanks sending in crosses. His style is too electric for the boring EPL.

Are you serious? I'll give you Eboue and maybe even Fabregas because he is Spanish and can't help it, but who else dives?

You are looking at the wrong team if you think that Arsenal is like that. Might wanna take a look at your precious FCB. Pay close attention especially to Alves and Busquets.

If you want to see diving watch Drogba, Ronaldo, Ashley Cole, Nani, Steven Gerrard, Torres, and (insert 90% of spanish and italian players here).

Where you got confused is in the EPL they actually play defense. So, when they go down it is because they got tackled and not because they are diving like in the la liga.

If a soccer ball is on the pitch on the Continent of Europe, you better believe there's someone diving within 10 meters of it. It's systemic at this point. It's useless to point fingers at specific teams or leagues.

Half your team is french so there goes the non diving argument. And let's not forget your golden boy Wilshere flopping all of over the place in the second leg against Barcelona.

And I never said that Barcelona players don't flop. We flop alot, not going to deny it. Teams have now adopted this strategy to completely hack the **** out of the entire game and we have just tried to get the most out of the recklessness. Yes, Busquets is a disgrace at times, but I'll accept it because he is the best player in the world at his role.

Mourinho wants to ugly up games and then play the victim when the game gets out of control and players get sent off. Have no idea how everyone acts like Real Madrid aren't flopping all over the field themselves. They have the two biggest divers in the world in Ronaldo and Di Maria.

I just laugh at people who try to take the side of Madrid and act like they are the victims of all this. They play absolute anti-football with three defensive mids and no striker. I would be embarrassed to be a fan of them when they spend hundreds of millions of dollars to bring these players in and then play like Stoke City.

wow. okay. did you watch this game? Pedro and Sergio Busquets were shameful. there wasn't a foul were 9 Barca players were sprinting to the ref asking for a yellow. Dani Alves getting sent off in a stretcher and amazingly come back to play at regular form? They signified everything bad about soccer in this game (minus Messi). Mourinho has always played this style and hes obviously been successful with it.

you are making the same argument anti-spread people make

Shame Pepe got sent off. Shame Barcelona reaps the rewards yet again

I don't disagree with you on Pedro and Busquets. They were clearly doing all of that to trick the referee. But the people acting like Barcelona was the only team doing that, then they are crazy. I've watched probably 25 Real Madrid games this year and they are just as bad.

I'm not denying Real Madrid has players that flop as you have probably seen it in one of those 25 games you've watched. Di Maria is horrible about it. The point is Barcelona is the best team in the world and they didn't need to do stuff like that. They played the role of we are being bullied, up to the point of Pep losing his cool in his pre game press conference. if anything that is this mythical "anti-football" you speak of as it does nothing but turn off people's interest in the game. Certainly in the US.

Big match for Manchester United tomorrow at Arsenal. Arsenal appear to be too far back to catch up at this point, but they can still wreck United's season. I would expect the boys in Stamford Bridge will be very interested in this match tomorrow with their match against United looming on the horizon.
