The Association Football Thread

Half your team is french so there goes the non diving argument. And let's not forget your golden boy Wilshere flopping all of over the place in the second leg against Barcelona.

And I never said that Barcelona players don't flop. We flop alot, not going to deny it. Teams have now adopted this strategy to completely hack the **** out of the entire game and we have just tried to get the most out of the recklessness. Yes, Busquets is a disgrace at times, but I'll accept it because he is the best player in the world at his role.

Our "golden boy" Wilshere is 19 and I'll give a couple immature games to him at this point in his career. Also, I will accept it because there is nobody at his age that is where he is.. period. The thing I don't understand is pointing a finger at Arsenal when it is clear that your team is miles worse... My beginning point is that you do not see diving in the EPL as clearly as you see it in the La Liga. Granted, all teams do it, but you just see it more often over there.

More often than not you just have players (more so than it being a team strategy) in the EPL that do it and they usually get heckled for it until they stop. It seems to be more "accepted" in the La Liga. That is all I am saying.

Big match for Manchester United tomorrow at Arsenal. Arsenal appear to be too far back to catch up at this point, but they can still wreck United's season. I would expect the boys in Stamford Bridge will be very interested in this match tomorrow with their match against United looming on the horizon.

Yeah, at this point I would love to just wreck their chances. I'd be happier with Chelsea taking it.

Despite their struggles, Chelsea have managed to hang around. Obviously, I want United to win it, but Chelsea still have a great chance. Arsenal played a solid first half of football.

Well one of my main issues with the whole diving epidemic is that you simply have to go down to get any calls. I can't tell you how many countless times Messi gets hacked but tries to stay up only to lose the ball while no foul is called.

I agree, but will add that a lot of times Messi keeps the advantage going off of ability alone.

It is pretty messed up though.

Win out, and we win the EPL. Our destiny is in our hands, we just have to take care of business. I would expect us to at worse draw Chelsea at Old Trafford. I had a bad feeling about today's match. Arsenal were like a caged animal, backed into a corner. They came out swinging, and they won.

But, I believe Chelsea will be at the top of the league table if they do win at Old Trafford.

Good to see Arsenal close out a win for once, and against ManU at that. If not for their dreadful closing out of games recently, these last 3 games would be off the charts for all teams involved.

If Chelsea pip ManU next week, and Arsenal win, that leaves 2 games with 3 teams within 3 points. I think ManU has the easier route of those 2, but it should be fun to watch it all play out.

I have been saying this all season. With Thomas Vermalen we would finally crumble defensively and that is what happened near the end. I am glad that we were able to stay this close, but accept not winning the League at this point. I am very glad we topped Man U and it shows great signs for the future with Ramsey and Wilshere holding down the midfield in the win.

I rerserve the right to blame my sportacular app for not updating the table :)

It would probably do you well to believe people that religiously follow a particular league from now on, as well.

They are even in the damn so you are correct. It is going to be a crazy close finish if they do pull off the win.

I follow the EPL pretty extensively. Much more than La Liga since it hasn't been much of a competition lately. I also don't really have a favorite team in the EPL so I just watch all the teams.

It's going to be a great finish for sure. That loss at Wolves is killing us right now.

I can say the same thing for the ridiculous dropped points by Arsenal. haha

Overall, it has been an awesome year. Can't wait to see what all happens this summer. What kind of moves do you see Man U making?

Haha well, Arsenal should be at the top of the table, honestly. We're fortunate to be there for the time being.

I'd like to see them lock up another solid goalie. I wish I could recall the names I've seen thrown out there. Another back wouldn't hurt, of course. I haven't seen anything to indicate that they will drop a big name onto the roster, but then again, I'm not on the Board (believe it or not ha).

What about Arsenal? I know Wenger isn't thrilled about Wilshere playing in that international league this summer, if he gets selected.
