If I had to guess right now I'd pick them to win it in 2014. If Lavezzi stays in form and Aguero keeps on shining they will be tough to be coming at you..

Hopefully for their sake some defense shows up.

My early pick is Germany. If Argentina figures out their defensive issues, they'll certainly be very dangerous.

Germany sure is the sexy pick.

Argentina has such a wealth of young talent right now. Pretty amazing. Messi, di Maria, Pastore, Aguero, Lavezzi, Higuain, Tevez. They should be really fun to watch this summer.

They always do. It seems like they have an entirely new team every four years. However, the defense is killing them at this point.

The players you listed indicates the problem. They're all attackers. When teams refuse to let them attack the entire game, they're going to have severe problems trying to play defense unless they get the situation worked out. And I honestly don't know much about their keeper situation outside of FIFA 11, but they're going to need a good keeper as well.

The thing that sets Brazil apart from Argentina is that Brazil seems to have produced many more quality defenders in the recent past.

They have a good young keeper Andrada that Barca is supposedly looking at. They really need some defenders though.

If you look at the time of my post you would realize I said I hate Messi right after he scored. Its not a full on hatred just a why are you destroying my team hatred. Nice try though. But if I do recall correcty Ronaldo was on the Man U squad that beat Messi in 08 in route to a Champions League title.

Congrats for Ronaldo. Messi was 20 years old at the time of that game. Ronaldo was in the prime of his career. Since then, Messi's team has eliminated him from the CL twice and won the league three years in a row and inevitably will win three Balon D'ors in a row.

Will he be tied with Ronaldo and Zidane? I know they won the "World Player of the Year" award (which doesn't exist anymore) 3 times, but Messi had won the old one once and the new one once, so I would think this would be his third time winning the highest individual award.

Also, does it seem weird to anyone else that they award it at the end of the year which is the middle of the season? Do they only go by what happened strictly in the calender year?

I think they base it on the previous club season and summer. So last year, Messi won it over Xavi and Iniesta due to his performance in the World Cup and club season.

watched the UEFA Champions League final twice this weekend. I love watching Manchester get outmanned. I'm surprised the match was as close as it was.

I would assume so since if they didn't, there's no chance Iniesta would have been a finalist considering he had a bad club season and was injured for much of it. I assumed he was a finalist due to his World Cup performances and winning goal against the Netherlands.

Welp, Bayern signs Neuer finally. Not a big shocker, but I am glad it is official. Also signed some help at right back with Rafinha. Don't really know much about him. Would like to see a CB signed and a wing signed since Ribery/Robben are always hurt.

Once again, what would have been a great rendition of the national anthem by the crowd is ruined by some guy with a microphone. Certainly hope we don't try to pull that if FIFA ever allows America to host the cup again.
