I'd rather not have a playoff. The best team is the team that wins the Supporter's Shield (best record at season's end). The playoffs are a total crapshoot. I'd prefer they name that team MLS champion. They could still keep the postseason format...the consolation would be that you can earn spots in CONCACAF play.

Well, no matter how healthy the league is, there will always be more money to be earned by having a playoff-style championship. So we'll always have it.

This. Besides, if the reward is to be a spot in CL play, there are plenty spots to go around. Supporters Shield winner already gets a berth in CONCACAF CL, as do both MLS Cup finalists and the Lamar Hunt winner, which is a pretty cool concept.
