if the MLS brand continues to grow, will money always be a problem in attracting more high profile players away from European club leagues?

We're starting to attract high-profile talent. We won't compete with the big leagues any time in the near future, but we can steal away talent here and there. First it was Beckham, then Ljundberg, then Henry and Marquez. Those are some damn big names. Maybe twilight of their careers, but they could still be effective players in any league.

thank you for your response. do you feel it will have a snowball effect with other players?

It's nice to live in the US. I think that is very attractive to players. Most of the good talent we're going to attract is probably going to come from the western hemisphere. Guys like Fredy Montero (Colombia) are good enough to play anywhere, but so far he's content here and I'm sure part of it is because he was signed at like 17 or something. Developing stars in that manner is probably the best route to bringing up the talent level.

Just subtract a bunch from RM's number of trophies and you'll probably get close to the right total for Barca, might make it easier to keep track of.

1 trophy for them in the last three years. Double digits for Barcelona. I'm not worried about anything else.

Haha, I was just busting your balls about that. I'm not a fan of either but I am a big fan of football history. I did a paper in HS about Alfredo Di Stefano in my spanish class and, conversely, about RM and their influence on the country.

I'm like a Royal's fan who *****es about the Yanks and Soxs because I have to pull up the internet to see how my team did in the Championship and pray they're still in line for promotion for next year. I'm the have nots of the have nots when it comes to my team.

seems to be some irk amongst US fans for Klinsmans roster selections. any you guys feel the same way?

you guys think the MLS brass will change the playoff format in the offseason?

I'd rather not have a playoff. The best team is the team that wins the Supporter's Shield (best record at season's end). The playoffs are a total crapshoot. I'd prefer they name that team MLS champion. They could still keep the postseason format...the consolation would be that you can earn spots in CONCACAF play.

Attendance figures for past 2 seasons. Only 4 teams had slight attendance dips (KC's increase trumps their decrease on its own). Trends look good:

Just saw CONCACAF named Nashville a host site for the 2012 Olympic qualifiers. Doubleheaders on March 22, 24, and 26. Can't wait.

Couldn't find time of possession and shots on goal stats. Guess I'll have to watch the game. Was it utterly dominated by France?

It was fairly even until the half. After halftime, France started to hit on all cylinders. Their attacks were brilliant; ours were utterly pathetic.
