They guy is only a month shy of his 24th birthday. Last year he was 11-4 with a 2.89 ERA as a Rookie. What more do you want to see from him other than a bit more consistancy, which I think comes with more and more experience.

Not saying he's not going to be a very, very good pitcher. But for awhile it looked like he had a very good shot to be one of the very top-shelf top guys, someone whom you assume will be a Cy Young candidate every year in the Halladay/Lincecum mold. And I just think if that were going to be the case, we would have seen more flashes of real dominance from Hanson so far. Lincecum's a good example -- he got beat around (relatively) well his first year, but he also had a lot of lights-out games with lines like 7 IP 2 H 0 ER, 8 IP 3 H 0 R, that sort of thing. And then he'd get knocked around the next game, but you saw the dominance coming. Hanson's only had 2 or 3 games like that out of almost 50 starts. He's been great for a young pitcher, but I think that if he were destined to one day be in that "best pitcher in baseball" conversation, we would have seen more of that from him already. Just my opinion.

Fair enough.

Former Vol RA Dickey tonight vs the Bravos....hope the only knuckle ball jumpin around tonight is off the bats of the Braves.

Anybody see that guy that McCann's bat just hit? Long sleeve shirt . . . and tie . . . to a ballgame . . . in August . . . and sitting in the rain . . . really?

. . . and Glaus was clutch coming off the bench to hit into a DP. Rarely have I seen a guy do less to help a team over as long a stretch. He just looks all used up.

He was huge when y'all were so hot earlier in the year though. Sure has balanced itself out.

I'm not too confident anymore that the braves are going to be able to hold off the phillies, who currently seem to be surging

The lone saving grace is that the Phillies are really banged up. One would think that they are due to cool off at some point.

Well, it seems he just had a fluky month of Willie Harrisian proportions. Which is a shame, because that was the whole offense for the Braves during the hot streak -- Cox put the OBP guys up in the front of the order, and Glaus knocked them all in. Runs have been tough to come by since he reverted to normal.

Freddie Freeman would be a last resort, but the way things are going he might have to come up.

In the last four games the Braves are 6-43 with RISP... That is pretty bad (.139)

They are getting guys on base, however, I think in the last seven games we had avg about 10 guys each game LOB.

They just need to hit when then get on.

So I guess bunting a guy over into scoring postion wouldn't really help much huh? Sorry, had to say it...

NM -- missed the sarcasm. Yeah, that's been part of the reason why I don't like bunting very much, especially with this team. Giving up an out in the hopes of a base hit by guys hitting .240 and .250 doesn't seem that smart.

It always blows my mind watching Chipper score from first on a double. You always think there's no way he'll make it, but then somewhere between 2nd and 3rd he find another gear. He can still run when he really wants to.

Not to be an alarmist, but the way Medlen was moving around and trying to stretch his forearm looked eerily similar to the way Tim Hudson reacted when he got hurt. Hopefully it was just a twinge from the other night when he got hit by a pitch.

I'll be in Atlanta for Giants-Braves tomorrow night. Looking forward to seeing Lincecum pitch for the first time in a couple of years.

Should be a good one. The Braves have struggled with Lincecum in the past. He's (6-1, 2.70 ERA) vs. the Braves lifetime.

Make sure you stay hydrated....with water.

Pretty certain it's going to be pretty bad. Thats almost a universal reaction which often leads to a Dr. James Andrews reference.

How his arm keeps from detaching from the rest of his body is beyond me.
