The Atlanta Braves (thread 1)

They're as good. It's September, and the Braves are in first.
I won't go that far, but the point is that it doesn't really matter who the players are, it hurts to lose the top of your order, and the Braves have done that at times just like the Phillies have.

I think it's pretty clear that the Phillies are better from 1-8 in the lineup, but i'd say the Braves bullpen and bench are better and the starting pitching is about a wash from 1-5 in the rotation.

The experts aren't giving us any love. Everyone I've heard has the Phillies picked to win the division again. We need to get a fairly sizeable lead and we need to do it quickly. Pretty hard to do though when every game you win, they win. Every game you lose, they lose. The last 2 series against them is going to get crazy.

This post is funny because I remember you saying after he went down that he hadn't done anything all year except I think you may have given him credit for 2 weeks. Good stuff bro.

Good lord, you're a pedantic little wanker, aren't you? I originally said he had been tearing the cover off the ball for the previous two weeks, which he had -- hitting almost .400 with three homers and four doubles -- and you felt that needed a correction, so you said NO, HE'S BEEN HITTING THAT WAY FOR MONTHS. Which he had not. Jones hit miserably for the first few months of the season, then he hit better for a couple of months, and then he started absolutely tearing it up for two weeks, and then he got hurt. In your initial "correction" of what I said, you ignored the fact that he'd shifted it into another gear in the immediately preceding weeks, yet now you're trying to somehow call me out for being inconsistent, when I haven't said anything other than what I'm saying now. Jones from April till the non-retirement announcement was awful. Jones from the announcement until late July was much better, but still a pretty average hitter. Jones from late July until the injury was a monster. How hard is this to understand?

Well, they were going to get rocked no matter who was pitching, Lowe or KK, but if they don't light up Adam Miller (they haven't so far), they missed a huge opportunity. Miller sucks.

Can't wait for Teheran next year and Lowe to be out.

Stupid KK

Get ready for another year of Lowe. The Braves aren't unloading that contract.

Lowe and Kawakami have pitched almost equally crappily this year. It doesn't really matter which one's out there. Clearly Kawakami looks like a guy who hasn't pitched in a month and a half tonight, though.

Gah, forgot he had one more. Kill me.

Someone should have died before the game for Kawakami to get a start when the Braves are up by so little in the division. That was frustrating.

Possibly the most clutch performance in Jurrjens' career tonight. They really needed a quality start tonight.

A break from the pennant stress...
